To answer ur ques, I use pronouns in my bio, because I believe it normalizes a non-binary person to mention their pronouns without any fuss or thought of 'expecting special treatment'

Say, hypothetically, if everyone is mentioning their pronouns, then it will become a normal thing to expect people to ask for other people's gender, before assuming it based on how they look or their name.

Since, that scenario is not achieved yet, if a queer person sees a profile with pronouns added, they might feel safe to interact with them knowing they might be an ally. Yes, putting pronouns in the bio seems like a small change to make a big impact.

But it at least helps in not isolating the non-binary and other queer people among the majority of cishet binary people. Considering the fact, those queer people are socially oppressed and are still considered a sin in many countries and beliefs.

But it is a completely different scenario in putting one's caste name. It begins to isolate a person. An oppressed person will always find it as a red flag seeing a person proudly putting their own caste name.

To put it in simple words, putting pronouns in the bio, provides a chance of uniting people of all gender. It creates a safe space. But putting one's caste creates a sense of separation and it upholds the already existing hierarchy.

There are a few categories/groups that we can choose to be part of, and choose not to be part of. Like, dog vs cat, a supporter of a movement, etc. You can always choose one group and move out if you don't like them anymore.

But the other categorization is forced upon you. Your ethnicity, caste, and region of birth. You have no control over choosing this. This puts you in a position, where, even though you don't like to be part of this, you are still in that category.

Now, coming to your point of how putting a country flag is different from putting a caste identity. I don't agree with being proud of anything that came to you as an accident. Being born in a country, in a family of privilege or not is an accident.

But for this point, let us take a general opinion about having a country name in the bio. 
A status of a country (economic/social) has the ability to vary. You can compare two different countries, and argue one is better than the other in various aspects.

You can argue the US is better than India, in terms of economics, and also, India is better than the US, in terms of obesity ratio.  The same goes for states within India. The same goes for religion. (Note that you can always change your religion in this country)

Bt caste is a completely different categorization. Even though it is assigned to you by birth, there is already a pre-defined hierarchy structure among the group of caste. There isn't any way for one to change their caste or to change the social status of the caste they belong to

There is no way a brahmin is going to be socially oppressed just because of their caste. Or Dalit people will immediately go up in that triangle. Mind that I am mentioning the social status of the group and not the economic status overall.

It is ok to do critical thinking with all the facts from science and evolution. But it is not going to help if you are neglecting the social factors too. Ignorance of our own privilege is the starting point of ignoring social oppression and imbalances.

Why should we not compare caste based identity with location/gender based identity

I have a partial disagreement on this. I agree that it is not a great idea to showcase the protagonist as a moral perfectionist. Morally, socially perfect character is a lie and it usually alienates people from connecting to the character. So yes. Including grey characters who are imperfect and make mistakes is a necessity for people to connect.

So it is fine if the character is a serial killer, kidnapper, stalker or a womenizer. But this comes with an exception. It is the responsibility of the creator, in this case the director, to put this character in a moral compass somewhere in the story.

If u are showing the main char as a smuggler, u should somehow make the audience realise at some point it is not worth it to be a smuggler. U could find this properly done in movies like, Sadhuranga vettai, Kutrame dhandanai, aandavan kattalai

I do expect political correctness in movies, atleast to a certain level. Yes. People are still gonna commit crimes even if we make absolute morally perfect movies. But that doesn't mean, we would support a movie which upholds honor killing or any other social ill-practices.

And if the creator fails to put the character in the moral compass, we should criticize them. I have seen moj videos, where people use the villain's jaadhi potrum dialogs and proudly acting to it. Even from the movies where it is clearly placed in moral compass.

Indha madhri social structure la irukra apo, people do get influenced by the nuances of character and thus the creator should definitely take responsibility. But banning a movie just because u have a few disagreements in some parts, not gonna help either.

I do agree with Quentin on this. But his movies are mostly revenge action dramas and there is always a reason for the anger. And this QT is actually for the love today movie. I hate that people r either completely defending the movie or going to another extreme &amp; asking for a ban

People go enjoy the movie in theatres. Comeback and introspect a little bit about it. Go ahead and criticise if u want. But don't judge people just because they loved the movie. 🤷‍♂️

Social correctness in movies

Do u know what happens when u keep pushing urself to stay strong despite all the Chaos happening around u? As time goes by, u will become numb. As numb as a dead body sometimes. When u hear news that must be shocking for u in general, u will realise nothing.

Like ur brain knows that it is bad news. But u won't cry. U won't even have any sort of feeling. But ur body will start to express all that pain. U will feel pain in ur body, all over. At times u go to sleep as soon as u lie down. At times u won't get any sleep.

But sometimes, you won't even know whether u have slept or not. Even after sleeping for hours u would still feel tired. And when the next problem comes, ur brain already starts to push u to be strong, by weakening ur body.

I know if i cry out, I might feel better. But I couldn't. Not that I don't want to. But I couldn't. I don't have the courage to break. I don't have the energy to break. Because I know, if i ever breakdown, i have no one else to pull me up other than doing it myself.

I realized I hadn't listened to this kurumugil song yet. Other than the portion trending in SMs, I haven't listened to the song in its entirety. Turns out, I haven't listened to any of the recently released albums. It didn't even cross my mind.

Mind that, I am someone who listens to songs almost daily for hours. Most of them are from the same 3 playlists. At times, when I wanted something new, I explore a different playlist or a collection. When I think about my behavior, I realized a few things.

there was a time, I used to download a new album as soon as it gets released, and keep playing it on a loop for a whole week. When Spotify and other similar platforms emerged, with the endless availability of content, initially I was skimming through all genres --

and artists like a maniac. Only to realize I am not at all enjoying those. Apart from Tamil songs, I don't have any favorite artists/albums from any other language. I tried, JB, TS, Ed sheeran and many more. Nothing worked. Last ah naan keta English song, believer nu nenaikre 😂

But now, I am at a point, when I think of listening to a new song, I find it useless or a waste of time. Since most of the new songs lose their glow after a few months. More like, it is directly proportional to whether the audio is trending in insta reels or not.

Also, these old songs surprise me at times. Like I might have been listening to a song for years, and on a random afternoon, I find the same song completely mesmerizing and soulful. I guess we can feel this, only with the songs we love to listen to forever.

Of course, this is just me. You can continue to listen to the songs, while doom scrolling on twitter. But I cannot do that. I still want to listen to the song which I have already listened to 1000 times and find myself again 1000 times.

Me ignoring all the new songs lately

Ok. Story time. 

Almost 2 years back. There was this girl in insta. Before that night, I have interacted with her only a few times and chumma we liked each other's posts. Avlo dhan. One day she posted a story, asking everyone to share underrated songs. She created one playlist

In Spotify and mentioned that she will be adding the suggested songs to the playlist. Everyone was sharing, and as I thought I had many, I kept replying to her story with songs. And as I shared, she mentioned how she also loves the same songs

And we kept sharing songs and speaking about nothing but only songs for hours. We were so engaged in the convo, I didn't even realise that we aren't speaking anything other than songs. I know nothing about her.

After a few days, she deactivated her insta account and never came back. I still follow the playlist that she created back then. I often get back to this playlist, and in shuffle, whenever a song pops up, that was suggested by me, i relive that entire night.

I don't think she might remember all this. I am not even expecting her to come back. All I want is, to relive that night, because I have even more songs to suggest and speak about. 💚
