Przez ostatnie dwa tygodnie eksperymentowałem z użyciem Perplexity jako zamiennika dla wyszukiwarki Google.

Perplexity to skrzyżowanie wyszukiwarki internetowej z chatbotem opartym na LLM (AI). Pod względem interfejsu odrobinę przypomina to rozwiązanie znane z ChatGPT, ale jest bardzo szybkie!
Ale takie wiecie... zaskakująco, skrajnie szybkie 😮
To, co odróżnia Perplexity od ChataGPT i jemu podobnych rozwiązań, to praktyczny brak "knowledge cutoff". Graniczna data końca wiedzy nie istnieje, ponieważ wszystkie informacje pobierane są 'na żywo' z internetu.
Spokojnie można więc zapytać o wydarzenie np. z dziś/wczoraj.
Odpowiedzi są bardzo trafne, a do tego, do wszelkiej prezentowanej wiedzy, dołączone są odnośniki do źródeł, z których dana informacja pochodzi. Pozwala to z łatwością zweryfikować, czy jest to źródło, któremu ufa użytkownik i czy dane zostały poprawnie zinterpretowane przez AI.
Niestety, czasami zdarzają się drobne wpadki i niedogodności.
Czasami automat myli kontekst sytuacji opisanej w artykule. Zdarzyło mi się pytać wydarzenie, w którym brały udział dwie osoby. Wyszukiwarka pomyliła, kogo dotyczy informacja. Wpadka była jednak prosta do wyłapania.
Co trzyma mnie przy Google, a co przekonuje do Perplexity?
Myślę, że oba rozwiązania całkiem dobrze się uzupełniają.
Po prostu służą one u mnie do innych celów.
◆ Google używam, gdy chcę znaleźć STRONĘ z informacjami
◆ Perplexity używam, gdy szukam ODPOWIEDZI na pytania
Przeanalizowałem, jak często szukam źródeł (Google), a jak często szukam odpowiedzi na pytania/problemy (Perplexity).
Wyszło mi, że jakieś 80% moich zapytań, to ta druga kategoria, czyli konkretne, proste pytania.
Istnieją zapytania, przy których Perplexity nie da sobie rady.
Istnieją też takie, przy których przeglądnięcie źródeł z Google to 20 minut pracy, a Perplexity robi to za mnie w 10 sekund.
Problemem jest tutaj doświadczenie.
User musi "wyczuć", jaki rodzaj zapytania gdzie pasuje
Poza typowym odpytywaniem wyszukiwarki wykorzystuję to narzędzie jeszcze do:
◆ streszczania artykułów z netu,
◆ streszczania filmów z YouTube,
◆ robienia szybkiego researchu na wybrany temat,
Wszelkie testy jak na typową cebulę przystało, przeprowadzałem z użyciem darmowego konta Perplexity.
Nie kupowałem wersji PRO, bo szczerze mówiąc, jeszcze nie znalazłem potrzeby, której nie mógłbym zaspokoić, korzystając z wersji darmowej.
Jedyna rzecz, która kusi mnie w wersji PRO, to możliwość analizowania i streszczania dokumentów PDF, z którymi ostatnio stykam się bardzo często podczas czytania prac naukowych z tematyki AI z ArXiv - to w ramach przygotowań do kolejnej edycji aidevs.pl
