Typefully is fantastic and way too cheap for what you get.
We’ve tried many alternatives at @framer but nothing beats it. If you’re still tweeting from Twitter you’re wasting time.

2/Road transport makes up ~50% of global oil demand.
Decline in this consumption will be somewhat offset by rising demand from petrochemicals and aviation, but not enough to prevent a drop in demand.
Peak oil before IEA's previous forecast of 2030?
Hello, Alberta.
3/This paragraph seems to have been written with Alberta in mind.
The @UCPWarRoom strategy is to decarbonize AB's oil and gas, then expand production and exports while promoting them as low-emission and climate friendly.
IEA says O&G expansion is risky.
Hello again, Alberta.
4/"It’s well-known in energy and climate circles that these technologies are expanding quickly, but I think many people still don’t realize just how quickly."
I interview ~200 global energy experts/year.
This trend has been obvious - except in Alberta - for at least 3 years.
5/Hoo boy. The highlighted part of the statement is NOT TRUE.
The US IRA favours domestically produced clean energy technologies, but extends that preference to countries with which it has a free trade agreement...like Canada.
Did AB Trade and Investment not proof this plan?
6/From the same paragraph: "Industrial policy and systems approach."
ABGov's understanding of industrial strategy and policy is, well, poor.
For starters, it talks only about Canada needing a industrial policy framework, as if Alberta has no responsibility (oh, it does).
7/I have a column coming about ABGov's claim that carbon credits are available under Article 6 from selling "clean LNG" to countries that use it to displace coal.
This is not happening.
I've talked to carbon management experts, got federal ministers to comment.
Trust me, no.
8/"We aspire to achieve a net zero carbon neutral economy by 2050..."
Aspirations are not commitments.
In 2023, countries and corporations that aspire to net-zero by 2050 are dismissed as not serious.
Draw your own conclusions.
9/This paragraph could have been (and maybe was) written by CAPP @OilGasCanada.
Instead of going hard on "safe bet" technologies that work today, the focus is on "wild card" tech that won't be feasible until 2030s or 2040s, if ever.
This is climate slow-walking writ large.
10/Yes!
The IEA says the industrial transformation required to build the equipment of the energy transition is the next industrial revolution.
Unfortunately, ABGov's ambition doesn't match the opportunity.
11/This chart is hilarious because it includes numerous initiatives of @RachelNotley + @albertaNDP's Climate Leadership Plan (2015 to 2019).
You know, the one @jkenney ripped up as soon as he became premier.
Now the UCP is bragging about it.
Oy vey.
12/"Alberta is a global leader in emissions reduction and climate policy."
Um, hardly.
This is from the new national GHG inventory released last week. Notice a trend? The only promise whose GHGs are rising is Alberta.
Isn't that generally considered the opposite of leadership?
13/A correction to tweet #12.
"Today Alberta’s annual emissions are down from 281 Mt in 2015 to 256 Mt in 2021."
This claim is correct.
I said AB's emissions were rising. What I should have said is that most other provinces are falling below 2005 levels, AB is not.
14/Industrial emitter carbon pricing (TIER). P 14
When the UCP introduced TIER in 2019, it was considered to be better than the NDP's CCIR for electricity, but much weaker for oil and gas.
Since then, TIER has been strengthened, mostly b/c the feds insisted.
15/Nice to see @AlbertaInnovates get a shout out, but let's not forget that the UCP cut its annual budget from $190 million to $150 million.
This at a time when govt $$ for basic science, R&D, and technology de-risking is a HUGE part of modern industrial policy.
16/Speaking of AB Innovates, it manages the Bitumen Beyond Combustion (BBC) program, which Energi Media readers know I like a lot.
"explore means to support"?
BBC started in 2016. No exploring needed. Provide adequate funding and let the agency get on with the work.
Sheesh.
17/@pembina:
It does not include a commitment to reduce emissions in short term – there is no 2030 target. Lack of a near-term target without a clear emissions reduction signal could lead to decisions that lock in higher emissions, such as building natural-gas fired power plants
18/A clear and comprehensive climate strategy is necessary to attract investment and take advantage of the rapidly growing clean energy economy.
MH; Can confirm. Policy and regulations are often a Top 3 requirement for clean energy industry. Clean electricity is often #1.
