Brave: you're hiring and your process includes a coding quiz/take-home exercise Really brave: you're doing the above and assuming everybody has a dev env with 15 specific tools and DBs already installed, configured, and working perfectly "SWE candidates are so bad these days"🙄

With Gitpod and Github Codespaces there is no excuse to have such a shockingly broken recruiting process! Heck, there are even a ton of online platforms that have integrated IDEs if you insist on having coding exercises. You not investing in the recruiting process = huge 🚩

This thread is brought to you by an early-career mentee who's confidence is being destroyed by shit interviewing processes. "But what if I'm not a real developer 🥹 my personal laptop doesn't have all those things installed" It's getting hard repeating "it's not you, it's them"
