Typefully is fantastic and way too cheap for what you get.
Weāve tried many alternatives at @framer but nothing beats it. If youāre still tweeting from Twitter youāre wasting time.

I tried @snipd_app, a podcast player with a superpower: it lets you clip snippets as text and even get them into your notes app (I use @obsdmd). This is absolutely something I'd like to do.
However, I've been an @OvercastFM user for years and Overcast gets the playing very right.
I imported my podcasts from Overcast and that was painless. However, in Overcast I have a bunch of podcasts that I listen to sometimes but I'm not subscribed to. Snipd added them all as subscriptions, which makes the podcast listening view noisy, so I had to just delete many.
I like Overcast's view for showing new episodes of the podcasts I'm subscribed to. Snipd has Newest, Listen Later, and Download views, but what I really want is what Overcast shows me: podcasts with episodes I haven't listened to. I'll choose a show based on my mood & prefs.
When playing a podcast, Snipd has 10s forward/back controls, not configurable. It's 30s in Overcast, which I find is a good skip length.
Overcast also has Smart Speed which clips silences from show. Some shows are 1.2x speed this way without any difference in the talking speed
Snipd's ML-based transcription and clips features are, indeed, awesome. I like the way it shows you a few choice segments from the show. For some shows, those might be all I want to listen to, which could save a lot of time. It'd be nice if it let me listen to just those clips.
While I really like @snipd_app's clipping feature, @OvercastFM's years of polish on the player interface provide an experience that's just so good that I can't see myself switching at this point. I've gathered that the way Overcast displays lists podcasts to play may be unusual
ā¦but if so, it's unusual in a way that fits how I'd like to listen to shows. I do really appreciate the new exploration in the open podcast world and I hope it stays an open ecosystem that allows such exploration, rather than getting locked into paid silos.
