Typefully is fantastic and way too cheap for what you get.
Weβve tried many alternatives at @framer but nothing beats it. If youβre still tweeting from Twitter youβre wasting time.

@Avish, Finding an identifiable metric can be challenging, but some clear "wins" are:
β’ Kills
β’ Knocks
β’ Game Wins
β’ Revives
Getting into your first fight & "losing" isn't "enjoyable", these metrics can show better show enjoyment levels!
At the core, Apex is a "Team based hero shooter". Adding Solo's, goes against the core design pillars.
A fair middle ground, would be to only matchmake solos with other solos, pending they want? that option, at the cost of queue times.
//Read: Good Defaults
On the flip-side, the community is increasingly becoming toxic. & fixing that is a nightmare. (League, Dota, R6 π)
Backing out before banners are expired, encourages players to abandon their teams. A timeout should be enforced, after excessive (3+ in 15 minutes) abandons.
@unholydegen, I play on Oregon servers & can assure you, my lobbies haven't gotten easier, when pairing with lower skilled players, which is what this change is about.
@Jakkaboose No, you'll still see mixed lobbies.
In order to reduce queue times, they look for lowest latency players, mixed with similar skill levels (Silver/Gold/Plat), in order to reduce queue times (& not fill the same lobbies).
This KP Tier Dif. also helps balance this out!
@PVPX_, This is for pubs, but even then, this is the common (see above tweet) queue problem.
Also, just because someone is a "Gold player", doesn't mean they play a ton of ranked &/or don't have the time to. Their skill level could still be that of a Diamond player! π
Honestly, I think cross server matchmaking should be possible, up to a certain latency extent, if it isn't already.
Especially as the requirements for Ranked are:
1: Competitive latency
2: Low Queue times
3: Similarly skilled players
One thing to also account for: Stream Snipers.
If you exclusively wait 15+ minutes for a Pred/Masters lobby, the chances of getting the "same" lobby are VERY high. Then that just spirals out of control, & no one wants that.
Threatening developers is out of line, & is sadly commonplace.
Constructive feedback is appreciated, but unrelated complaints just add noise & cause more trouble for devs.
They could also try to host more frequent feedback surveys to address ongoing concerns... π
@ShivFPS, I agree, Solo-Queuers shouldn't be paired against Trio stacks, unless their AVG. Team skill level equates to your team's AVG.
Because being the top nth % of the playerbase, really does put you in a unique situation. It's a hard problem to solve. 1/2
As for Ranked, I do think your first few games of a session should be a tighter skill gap, to ensure you don't bleed RP, as you "warm up" to the lobbies. 2/2
@CreesonCTV Unpopular opinion, but the S13 Ranked changes were necessary, & should be re-instated.
People got butt hurt, that they weren't "their" rank.
I think we need more ranks, especially in the higher tiers. Plat to Diamond lobbies, are night & day different.
1/2
Maybe:
β’ Emerald (Between Gold/Plat)
β’ Champions (Between Diamond & Masters)
β’ GrandMaster (Above Masters)
Like don't complain they never tried something different, then when they do, cry about it until it goes back. *sigh*
The team KP was an amazing improvement! π
2/2
To summarize:
β’ More ranks
β’ Estimated Queue Time
β’ More focus on placement, not farming KP, especially in higher ranks.
β’ A Rank Performance Graph
@sonketh, I strongly agree. Respawn's doing their best, with what they have.
The idea that these developers miraculously on a whim, want to ruin players' days, is just unfounded.
EA is in charge of how the studio moves forward. They'll chase money, to appease investors.
Ideally, to fight smurfs, I feel like resetting everyone back to Bronze IV is a good move. After a few days/session, most people should have climbed out of the "bot" lobbies.
This also plays nicely with the whole Bronze -> Masters, etc.
1/3
Credit Card &/or phone number verification is needed, for ranked. Too many smurfs running around. (I'm guilty of this).
I only did it, so I could play with my friends that never played ranked, but other's do it to "feel good" about themselves, & honestly it's gaming the MM.
2/3
Last thing on smurfs & a π₯ one:
Apex has a built in VPN. You can select any server you want to connect to. This is a problem, as some people are shadily gaming regions with lower skill levels to reach Masters/Pred.
Disgusting.
Either need region lock, or preds per region. 3/3
All these people wanting "CoD 4" lobbies again, don't realize how fundamentally broken they were.
Those coveted bot lobbies are *amazing*, but no one wants to be farmed. It's not an enjoyable experience, on the receiving end.
1/3
So the SBMM gap gets smaller, & the more vocal, hardcore community starts whining about how sweaty the lobbies are.
"If I wanted to play ranked I'd go play ranked.", but even pubs need SBMM, albeit lighter.
2/3
The Match Making is changing from best player's skill level to the AVG. of level of the group, which could lead to decreased enjoyment for lower skilled players, as they get farmed for KP.
This introduces issues with player enjoyment/retention.
3/3
Last thing I'll touch on & I'll tread carefully: Input.
Controller players should be paired with other controller players, even cross platform (PS/Xbox/PC/Switch), esp. when partied with a PC member.
If you party with controller/M&K, then it's fair game.
Let consoles use M&K.
