does anybody have/know of any still-working apps/services for creating mocked-up images of single Tweets?

It occurs to me that I'm late in addressing this and panicking a little bit lol... Given the state of things, it definitively no longer makes sense to embed them imo... (`publish.twitter.com` stopped working a few weeks back, anyway, which was a real wakeup call lol.)

... but obviously, I still come across Twitter content I absolutely want to retain every day.

File Reminder Siri Shortcut

I found the experience of attempting to reboot an entire, long-abandoned, once-infamous(?) car wash in the Ozarks. https://maps.app.goo.gl/vofqvyvjGmYAWXQBA

Its gist:
- Digital payments on-site do not appear to be functioning as of late June 2023.
- I was able to use cash successfully.
- Though it'd obviously been long-abandoned, the water that came out during the rinse cycle, at least, was free of debris and did not smell of poo.

• The employee of the Break Time told me that:
1.  The store had been able to sell working car wash codes for as long as she'd worked there.

2.  It had been a notably long time since "anybody" had been able to get in contact with the owners of the car wash.

...and that's it.

I was visiting my sister's lake house this past June (the 18th I believe) having just taken my first road trip in 4 years in my (new to me) Golf. I had gotten the car fairly dirty on my way there - having driven the longest route I could find from Columbia, basically.

I asked my brother-in-law about car washes in the area and he mentioned "the one behind Break Time," though couldn't tell me whether or not it was still opened.

With post-COVID hours, I was pushing it when I arrived at ~10:40PM with like 3 quarters to my name.

So freakin thankful, immediately, that no music was being played (the last do-it-yourself washes in Columbia - Lighthouse Car Wash - play pop radio so loud it's actually hard to concentrate.)...

I was curious about the prospect of using my debit card as soon as I saw the sign indicating that it had to be done in a singular location, where I found an (absolutely adorable, apparently locally made?) interface that appeared to be stuck on on a prior authorization.

Before I proceeded - and perhaps actually relevant to purpose of such a review (sorry) - I walked up to the Break Time, where the last shift was closing solo. I brought up the car wash and she immediately noted that they "hadn't heard from them in months,"...

...and that the store ⇨ wash payment processing hadn't been working since she'd started there.

...so!

I decided to at least try rebooting the on-site payment terminal with the master breaker switch (which is very large and very visibly placed, I should say,) if only because I thought it'd be interesting to watch such a legacy, time-worn piece of automation come back to life.

...and it was! I got to see the terminal boot from a quite sophisticated script and the sound of everything settling into place was enchanting, pitifully.

Unfortunately, though this did clear the error, it landed on (and got stuck) the exact same error when I tried my card lol

I had enough cash to rinse my car off, which was all I really needed in the end. That evening was one I'll never forget (for other reasons too.)

I would encourage the owners of that car wash - if they happen to see this - to contact MFA Corporate (my employers) at their main phone number. Ya never know - they've expanded stores a lot and they might be interested in the property.

I'd been engaged in an intermittently public diatribe throughout the acquisition - somewhat constructively, I hope - as comes naturally to me,...

...but it wasn't until I opened fuckin TweetDeck on my iPad a few weeks ago to four empty columns and just ... started bawling... that I realized it's probably okay to let myself acknowledge what Elon Musk has directly taken from me. (Yes, that specific language, unqualified.)

For my whole adult life and then some, the first of those columns has been set to a private Twitter List, which has grown over some 13 years to almost 300 accounts, representing the whole of my social existence, basically.

If you hadn't noticed, I have invested a LOT of my time and energy over the past 5 years, especially, in trying to figure out how to liberate myself and my friends from this dangerous, far too absolute dependence on a single, unbelivably incompetent organization.

Ultimately, though, I don't think that part of my life actually had anything to do with my tears from a goddamned broken website - I really REALLY just miss my fucking friends, bro.

not only that, for iOS/iPadOS devices (and more,) it can be installed locally as a PWA! 

Just an update:

As of the first of September, 2023, it would appear that X has now successfully moved access to "X Pro" - what was once called TweetDeck 2.0(?) - behind the X Premium paywall. For my own curiosity, I just bought a month of premium to see if I could get to…

I'm not sure what @olemoritz - its extra-human creator - would tell you if you asked why it has not technically been updated on the app store in quite a while but *my* answer...

there is not a *single* problematic deprecation in the way the app's current release version functions today on my 12.9" iPad Pro running on iPadOS' developer release channel. I haven't found a *single* reproducible unexpected behavior.

...importantly, not on the two *older* versions of the app I've been running on my iPad Air 2 (last build of iOS 12) and iPhone 4S (last build of iOS 9), either.

so As For Me and My House, there are zero reasons to expect or request any changes to the app as it is... yet I could abandon every other space/product/methodology in which I manipulate text for this one and - no lie - almost certainly be *better off* in far too many regards.

(note that statement would not so confidently apply to the iP4S but... damn you would be fucking astonished how close it comes.)
