Typefully is fantastic and way too cheap for what you get.
Weâve tried many alternatives at @framer but nothing beats it. If youâre still tweeting from Twitter youâre wasting time.

NOTE: This brief will outline the topics in content but will not address the operationâs mechanics because many other researchers have addressed them at length. See 45 titles from 36 sources over 1.6 years here: infoepi.org/posts/2024/04/19-doppelganger-lit-review.html
Across multiple topics, the content discussed the United Statesâ unreliability as a global partner and the destruction that befalls those who rely upon the United States. Invocations of fear are sometimes followed by a call to forge new alliances with Russia and China.
The URLs in this dataset resolved to a handful of domains that mimic real news site: rrn[.]media, spicyconspiracy[.]info, walla[.]re, youtube[.]com, 50statesoflie[.]com, uschina[.]press, fox-news[.]in, ukrlm[.]info, holylandherald[.]com, and liesofwallstreet[.]com.
đNow for the narratives.
UKRAINE: Some posts appear supportive of Ukraine but subtly and sometimes overtly suggest that its democratic allies should be doing more. The posts create a false dichotomy that might be an attempt to encourage grievance and resentment toward allies.
Several posts depict delays by the current Speaker of the House as a willingness to be "tough on Ukraine." Posts warned foreign investors about dealing with Ukraine. The focus on high-level corruption aims to deter international support.
Using images of former President Trump, posts suggest that U.S. aid to Ukraine is unjustifiable given domestic challenges, presenting a false choice between international aid and domestic welfare. fox-news[.]in was registered in late 2023 and resembles foxnews[.]com. #elections
ISRAEL: Posts assert that the U.S. has failed Israel by delaying aid. Several tweets specifically advocate for Israel to seek new alliances with Russia and China. infoepi.org/posts/2024/04/doppelganger/israel.html
One setâs cover photo featured U.S. President Biden with a soccer ball stamped with the Star of David. The graphic may imply Biden is âplaying gamesâ with Israelâs security or that the U.S. is trivializing Israelâs security concerns. The comments left it open to interpretation.
DIRECTED AT DEMOCRACIES:
Content directed at people living in democracies amplified isolationist views and encouraged grievance. Posts focused on farmers' protests in Poland and their dissatisfaction with elected officials.
Another post series focused on the housing market and economic issues, pushing a dichotomy between focusing on domestic versus international challenges. âThe billions given the Ukraine, Israel, and NATO could do wonders for the U.S. housing market.â
The Doppelgänger bots also boosted content tying extraterrestrial activity with natural disasters.
Theories that detach from reality can incline people toward violence, frustrate reasoned conversation, and break down societal relationships.
"Extraterrestrial Civilization May Be Linked to Supervolcano Explosion," on spicyconspiracy[.]info says, "...our only chance of salvation from the supervolcano is a miracle," and "We can only hope that an extraterrestrial civilization will ... stop the eruption of Yellowstone."
Content targeted at citizens in democracies often employs conspiracy-thinking and conspiracy-beliefs. Indeed, Russiaâs use of conspiracy theories to manipulate the public has been documented in detail. muse.jhu.edu/article/867521
If you like examples, this is a summary of a report from 1988 that covers several conspiracy theories that were weaponized and caused real-world harm. I also recommend @leventhal_todd's work on child trafficking rumors in the 80s. infoepi.org/posts/2023/11/5-1980s-disinfo.html
