So @artblocks_io has launched its own NFT marketplace with native listings/delistings, with creator royalties baked in.
The launch is a partial response to the furor over creator royalties. twitter.com/purphat/status/1628502744071049216?s=20
After all, the big use case for NFT was their ability to reward creators and artists in perpetuity and bypass gatekeepers via creator royalties.
That use case is rapidly being eroded thanks to Blur, etc.
I plan to try it out to pick up some generative art... but does the space need yet another marketplace, and how will those one differ from OpenSea, Blur, Looksrare, etc?
The Coinbase NFT marketplace didn't fare so well partly because NFT traders and buyers had no compelling reason to use it.
It'll be interesting to see if the ArtBlocks team can incentivise traders to use this new marketplace.
So does that mean the team could release a token or perhaps an NFT for users:
Many Art Blocks holders say the art is the use case. Let's see if they can buy from ArtBlocks rather than on secondary marketplaces.
