So, you want to grow your newsletter?
Here are 5 quick tips for getting more subscribers
š§µš
1/ Pick a niche and be consistent
Super-focused newsletters that publish regularly are much easier to grow than generic, sporadic ones
Examples:
@stackedmarketer (what's new in marketing)
@nicenewshq (positive news stories)
@growthcurrency (grow your newsletter)
2/ Test your opt-in pages
Sure, simple "Substack-style" pages can work, but from 50+ newsletter landing page tests I've run, a high-quality, well-designed opt-in page with more substance usually performs best
Here's one of my best-converting designs:
3/ Cross-promote with other publishers
Find other newsletter creators in a similar or adjunct niche with similar audience sizes to you
Reach out to them and ask to do a cross-promotion
4/ Set up a referral system
@SparkLoopHQ is the go-to in this space
But more important than the tool, is making sure you have good referral bonuses and that you let people know how to get them
Here's what mine looks like:
5/ Create a lead magnet
Instead of just sending people to your newsletter opt-in page all the time, switch things up and offer checklists, ebooks, etc.
Example:
On @vasvalch's blog, you may see this CTA, where she gives away a bunch of free resources to new subscribers
