Typefully is fantastic and way too cheap for what you get.
We’ve tried many alternatives at @framer but nothing beats it. If you’re still tweeting from Twitter you’re wasting time.

Let me just take a look at this real quick...
43 slides later.
This project remains one of the top projects being developed that I find absolutely fascinating, and arguably among the most essential to the future. twitter.com/IAM_X_IDENTITY/status/1563920356569747458
2/16
Identity and data retention or control are hot topics now, have been for years, and will only become even more important as more time goes on.
There are many factors that affect this:
- Power imbalance
- Transparency
- Property rights
- Security
To name only a few.
3/16
💪🏽 Power Imbalance
Big tech has developed wonderful products that enhance our lives in many great ways.
This opens the door to new possibilities...
But also places us at the mercy of their data harvesting practices in order to enjoy those products.
4/16
Want very secure email?
You can get it at no cost from Google, but you pay with the data created en masse from each interaction.
Want to connect with friends and the world in totally new ways?
Meta and Twitter have you covered, but they own everything you post (even this)
5/16
The power is decidedly in their favor for controlling what we do and how our identities are used.
They seem to continue to profit off our data as it's transacted to third-parties we're not even aware of, and the only value we seem to get is... "free" email and social media.
6/16
👁🗨 Transparency
Speaking of those third-parties.
Another concern is that we almost never know who our data is being shared with...
...even if the current tacit acknowledgement by many is that our data IS being shared.
7/16
The ability to track the migration of our data across the Internet is so hard it might as well be impossible.
Certainly for the average person this is the case.
Even for those who may have technical skills to make some progress on this, it would be a monumental effort.
8/16
We certainly can't rely on the companies themselves to provide this notice.
Most TOS and User Agreements are so broad as to provide no real insight to where our data will go, even if we read them. 👀
9/16
📜 Property Rights
Who actually owns the data?
Do you because you think you made it?
Does the cloud provider you store it on own it because you released it there?
Does the company that provides the service you interact on and new data is generated on?
10/16
These are deeply intertwined and often conflicting arguments made about relatively the same data.
And the law is far from being settled on this matter.
However, the general thought now is that once the data leaves sole residence on your device it is up for grabs.
11/16
🔐 Security
Speaking of who owns the data...
Who's responsible to protect the data and to what extent?
If you wanted to safeguard your data from being passed on or transferred to a third-party, how do you even enact that?
12/16
Data breaches will only become more common for on-premise and cloud-based databases.
Data is valuable.
But the extent to which it's valuable to protect depends a lot on who's data it is.
13/16
Your data is immeasurably valuable to you.
And so you might place security of it at or near the top of your to-do list.
But your data to Big Tech is just one of billions of records that they would package and monetize as a product.
Only valuable to them for resale.
14/16
**I'm almost done... 🤣
@IAM_X_IDENTITY may or may not be a magic pill to solve all of this.
Time will tell.
But I do think that they offer a much-needed solution for addressing these matters as we transition a much more deeply connected world in web3.
15/16
For this reason I'm thrilled to be involved at an early stage.
This lets me learn about them from an individual and potential enterprise perspective as they develop.
It also lets me be an early participant and reap those rewards.
16/16
The next two years will be exciting and I can't wait to see what they do to really encourage adoption of SSI.
As a note: I assume that I know nothing about everything. You should think that of me, too. I'm just a person saying things on the Internet. Own your own research.
