I recently listened to a podcast by @hubermanlab featuring @DrAndyGalpin where they shared some fascinating insights on the importance of hydration. Let me break it down for you in this thread 👇
Staying hydrated is super important, especially when we're getting our sweat on or using our brains. But how much water should we be chugging? Dr. Galpin advises drinking 1/2 your weight in ounces daily, and potentially more if you're exerting yourself.
When you're about to get your sweat on - whether it's a workout or a mental challenge - you gotta make sure you're hydrated with ELECTROLYTES, not just boring old water.
According to Dr. Galpin, you should replace the amount of fluids you lose during your activity with 125-150% of the weight you lost in fluids (and remember, that's not just water - electrolytes are key!).
Okay, so here's the deal - if you wanna do this right, you gotta step on the scale before and after you work out. Oh, and Dr. Galpin says you should pop 500mg of sodium before and after you exercise or if you're about to tackle something that requires a lot of brain power.
And listen up, folks - if you don't start off hydrated, you're pretty much screwed. Ain't no catching up from that mess.
