Volume

Banana managed to process a respectable amount of volume yesterday, amounting to $5.6+m.

They also collected over 22 ETH in fees. 🔥

Users

💥 Yesterday was bustling for Banana, where they had an influx of over 2500 users.

😳 This is just short of their ATH by about 38 users.

Bot Overload

However, the bot was not prepared for the heavy traffic as addressed below.

Personally, I tried to use it yesterday to manual buy banana, it still worked but was much laggier than usual for sure.

Price

$BANANA reached an ATH of $8.60 at around 20+m market cap before the dev announced a redeployment of the token.

Gas prices shot up to hundreds of Gwei yesterday as everyone was trying to get a position in Banana.

Banana's token launch went wrong yesterday as sell taxes were not working as they are supposed to.

The team has taken a snapshot to ensure that $BANANA holders will be reimbursed.

Even traders of the token will be fully refunded.

Conclusion

Banana's relaunch should be an interesting play.

With the current FUD now, it's possible for them to launch at a lower market cap and perhaps allow a better entry. 🤔

With the sniper wars just heating up, @BananaGunBot is set to fan the embers into a roaring inferno. 🔥

Will @TeamUnibot remain as the king of trading bots?

Banana Gun

$Banana is a telegram trading bot that specializes in sniping.

With custom RPCs, users have claimed that they are able to process their snipes at faster speeds compared to @MaestroBots and @TeamUnibot.

Features

After setting up your configurations such as Gwei and your wallets, there are only a few short steps needed to start sniping:

1️⃣ Paste the token CA.
2️⃣ Select number of wallets to be used.
3️⃣ Your snipe is now live and will fire on launch!

❌ Banana also has some cool features such as anti-rug, which enables users to sell their tokens before liquidity is pulled.

🏎 Users can preset the Gwei they wish to use so as to frontrun the rug.

🤔 Some have debated that such a feature is easily bypassed by private TXs.

Banana Analytics

The user stats are looking incredible at first glance, with a nice rising trend and over 2500 users yesterday.

Some have pointed out the volume is incentivised, however the number of users remain high despite the airdrop only being for NFT holders.

The ETH revenue gained yesterday amounts to almost 18 ETH.

If we compare this to $Unibot's revenue (purely from using Unibot), we can see that they match up quite closely for now.

However, if we look at the numbers per user, Unibot has the edge over Banana.

Average fees gained per user is much higher for Unibot.

👉 This could be attributed to the fact that Unibot users are regularly trading as opposed to just sniping.

Battle of Titans

Currently, we observe that Banana has an edge over Unibot mainly in speed.

Some (including myself) argue that Unibot's value proposition lies not in its sniping abilities, but in its friendly UIUX.

First Mover

Despite being released not too long ago, Unibot has secured multiple partnerships/integrations which include:

Being earlier has enabled them to establish a larger footing in this space as of now.

There is some catch up to be done for sure and the Banana team acknowledges this.

Presale

The topic of the week has been Banana's 800E ($1.3M) presale.

This amount has been criticized to be exorbitant, especially in current market conditions.

The main arguments are:

🤑 Team greed
🗑 Big presale dump
💰 4/4 tax despite 800E raise

I have gone around asking a few Banana enthusiasts for justifications.

The main reason is that the team requires large funds for high quality development.

It is also to be noted that the tax distribution is:

🍌 2% - token holders
🍌 1% - team
🍌 1% - treasury

So we can see that holders do benefit more from the taxes as opposed to just the team.

Besides that, there is also some nice revenue share from the bot volume.

40% is equivalent to the share that Unibot holders also receive.

The team has also hinted at a burn 🔥 in the future.

The Banana bot will have Ape-To-Earn, which allows users to receive some cashback from trading on Banana.

The team states that this will ignite a flywheel whereby:
➡️ Emissions attract users
➡️ Users use Banana
➡️ Increase in fees
➡️ More Banana buyers
➡️ Treasury Buybacks

👉 Unibot also has a flywheel effect with its revenue model and 20% fee discount for holders.

👉 Although it does not provide trading incentives, there are no future emissions to worry about.

Conclusion

Strong competition means better products for users.

Also, potentially new investment opportunities.

Telegram Trading Bots: Introducing Banana Gun

Trading onchain coins onchain, BUT with leverage!

We can now make 1000x MUCH faster! (And lose our life savings twice as fast too 😁)

Let us dive into the groundbreaking DEX @HyperliquidX. 👇

Intro

Hyperliquid runs on its own L1, where its order book is fully onchain.

The chain utilizes Tendermint consensus and is able to perform finality at <1 second.

It also claims to be able to do 20k orders per second.

Trading Pairs

Hyperliquid already supports 40 over assets, which is much more than most competitors such as $GMX.

Popular pairs that are rarely seen elsewhere such as $UNIBOT and $RLB are also available.

Liquidity

Hyperliquid allows provision of liquidity by the community through the Hyperliquid Provider (HLP) vault.

An offchain market making strategy will be run on the USDC provided, and the trades can be tracked onchain.

The strategy calculates a fair price based on tick data from Hyperliquid and large CEXes.

We can see that within just a month, HLP has made almost $600k in profits, with a max drawdown of 5.38%.

The APR is now at a staggering 291%.

Fees

Hyperliquid offers a competitive fee structure compared to other perp DEXes which usually offer a 5bps (0.05%) fee for takers.

Not only that, fees are also accrued back to the community which has provided for HLP.

Token Airdrop?

Hyperliquid has also hinted at a future token, as they state in the docs that it will be needed to secure their L1 (POS).

Since it is still in mainnet alpha, it is possible that providing liquidity and/or trading on Hyperliquid would qualify one for airdrops.

It is nice to see a perp DEX that finally offers an experience that rivals that of CEXes.

With a proper fiat onramp service, it could be one of the few perp DEXes that CEX users choose to trade on.

Some interesting points that I wanted to address 👇

The pairs with the highest trading volume are $APE $CFX $SEI and so on.

To my surprise there was little volume in the exotic pairs like $RLB $HPOS and $UNIBOT.

It seems like perps traders still prefer to trade the generic altcoins even when exotic options are offered.

Could it be that exotic coins are much harder to trade, perhaps more unpredictable?

Also, why are the onchain degens not max longing these coins here?

Conclusion

Interesting to see innovation in the perps space after a while of just GMX forks.

Perhaps I will provide some liquidity there soon.

More than just a Telegram bot, @TeamUnibot has now launched Unibot X, a web app trading interface.

Will Unibot X be the catalyst that brings the masses into the world of crypto?

Let's find out. 👇

Context

Unibot X is the web app of their original sniping bot.

By migrating the experience out to a web app, Unibot becomes a lot more accessible to everyone.

The bottom picture is how the desktop version looks like:

Sections

On the left, we would have the transaction history of your wallet and your own watchlist.

The bottom left includes a deploy section, showing new tokens that were just created.

You may also view the PNL of recent sales and the sniper wallets of different tokens.

GeckoTerminal

In the middle we see the familiar TradingView API on the GeckoTerminal integration.

The star on the top right is for adding to watchlist and we also can copy the CA directly.

Clicking on the magnifying glass icon gives us the token details such as mcap.

Trading

On the right we would have the buy/sell functions.

Simply input the address and the amount you wish to pay and you'll be able to buy without additional approvals just like on the bot itself.

More settings such as private transaction and slippage can be set manually.

Mobile

The web app can also be directly accessed on mobile, through telegram itself.

Personally I feel that it does look a bit clunky on mobile for now.

The sections can be toggled with buttons at the bottom.

Initial Take

The web app makes perfect sense since it gives a proper trading interface for all users alike.

My first impression is that its rather smooth for the first version of the web app.

Nevertheless, there's a few points which I think could be worked on. 👇

Suggestions

At first glance, the UI might be too overwhelming for a new crypto user.

I would add a lite mode that's akin to Binance, where line charts are used and there is a simple buy and sell button.

The original mode can be for the degens.

Suggestions

The team may also allow for customisation of widgets for people.

There may be different metrics that each user looks at/needs so I think that would be useful.

Lastly, an onramp/offramp function would complete this experience so it becomes an all-in-one hub.

Conclusion

Thanks to the team for letting me try this out, was lucky to be chosen. 😄

This is a great step in onboarding the masses as the web app makes crypto trading seamless.

It's bound to be improved as more Dapps start integrating on it. 👀

Unibot X: Bringing Crypto to the Masses

12 Million of $ARB tokens worth over $13.8 Million could be given out to @CamelotDEX 😱

Is this too much?

Context

Camelot has requested for a grant of 12M ARB, with 2M to be distributed each month until the 6th month.

TLDR, one of Camelot's main reasons is their provision of deep liquidity for Arbitrum native protocols which is essential for survival.

Motivation

The second main reason is the fact that Camelot has been able to distribute rewards in a sustainable manner.

Last but not least, they also have several integrated partners such as Gamma and Pendle.

The claim is that the grant will also benefit the partners.

Significance

It is no doubt that Camelot has played a vital role in the growth of Arbitrum.

I have outlined that in one of my old posts where I agree that Camelot is unique in the sense that they cover for the entire lifecycle of protocols they support.

Plan

From what I see, the incentives will be used to incentivise users and builders to come onto Camelot.

LPs will be deep as liquidity providers enter to take advantage of the ARB incentives.

Builders will want to launch and see liquidity on Camelot due to high DAU and Liq.

Plan

This is because as liquidity is deeper on Camelot, more users will swap on Camelot due to lower slippages.

More inflow of capital into Camelot will naturally make it a more attractive place for new protocols to launch on.

Initial Take

The plan makes sense and Camelot has great ideas for the ecosystem.

However, the grant seems to be excessive and the approach is likely to be aggressive with respect to how the incentives will be handed out.

Let me explain. 👇

Metrics

The following are to be used to gauge the success of the grant.

• TVL growth
• Volume growth
• Daily active user growth
• New pools and protocols supported
• Integration partner growth

There are some flaws I foresee by using such metrics.

Flaws

TVL growth seems to be the most obvious flaw here.

With such a huge amount of ARB tokens to be given out, mercenary capital is sure to flush in.

This metric would be a giveaway in that case.

As shown, Velodrome was able to >3X its TVL with a 4M OP grant.

Flaws

However, such TVL is not sticky, as Velodrome's TVL is now at $199M, a >38% drop.

The team themselves have stated that TVL and volume numbers are easily skewed, but yet the milestone is measured in exactly that.

Flaws

No problems with DAU, a great metric since this will not be an airdrop scheme.

New pools and protocols supported is rather vague.

IMO, its best to reserve this metric for the new protocols that launch on Camelot since Camelot specialises in covering lifecycles of them.

Clarity

Integration partner growth is also rather vague for now.

I'm guessing the team will elaborate on this.

It will be good to focus more on DAU and fees here as well and place less importance on things like TVL.

Comparison

Camelot argues that they are doing a better job than Velodrome even without incentives.

However, they are requesting for 2M ARB (~$2.3M) per month
vs 3M OP (~$1.42M) over 4-5 months.

$2.3M vs $315K

The difference in the amount they are asking for is stark.

Treasury

Keep in mind that Camelot currently holds 2.18M of ARB in their treasury already.

They will have a total of 14.18M ARB by the end of the grant.

Personal Take

I think there is no need for Camelot to have so much ARB.

The way I see it, the 2M ARB monthly will be given out aggressively/needlessly since Camelot has points to prove.

A big mercenary session would waste most of the ARB which may not result in sticky users.

Market

Current market conditions are very PvP, such a huge amount of rewards will be wasted on mercenaries.

Fortunately, Arbitrum is a chain with one of the most organic activity.

Excluding the skew on 23 March due to the airdrop, Arbitrum still has many users.

Organic

Therefore, Camelot can definitely grow organically/with a smaller ARB grant.

They have done this before as they have said so themselves.

From what I have observed, Camelot enjoyed great success in March due to the hype in their launchpad back then.

Moving Ahead

I think that Camelot definitely has potential to grow much further with less incentives.

How they can approach this is:
• Use ARB from their own treasury first to prove their point
• Probation of 2 months of the grant before deciding to continue

Launches

An alternative approach is for Camelot to focus on its current product too.

With a great launch, Camelot would expect a spike in volume from the new launches.

Previous launches did not go too well and Camelot has tried to rectify it with xGRAIL utility and caps.

UX

However, many are still complaining that Camelot has horrible UX and I personally have experienced it during the $PNP launch.

Swaps frequently had errors and the router was routing through illiquid pools causing high price impacts.

UI

Many have also complained that the UI is laggy and hard to use.

It would appear that Camelot has several things they can opt

My Approach

Camelot should optimise the UX/UI and focus on vetting quality projects with no predatory raises to launch on their platform.

I think that alone will drive a lot more organic activity onto Camelot naturally.

Conclusion

The grant is excessive considering that there are other things Camelot can work on to first maximise organic activity.

Coupled with a smaller grant and/or Camelot starts using their own ARB treasury, the platform is likely to gain much more traction sustainably.

@iearnfinance is a familiar face to most DeFi users.

It is a yield aggregator that maximises yield for its users by combining various strategies.

Its main edge over other aggregators is its stronghold on $CRV which has enabled it to take advantage of $CRV emissions.

Catalyst #1: Liquid Staking Derivatives (LSDs)

Yearn has announced that they will soon be launching yETH.

By allowing users to diversify their LSDs, yETH will reduce risks like depegs.

However, the main thing to note here are the boosted yields 🚀

Yearn holds an insane amount of $veCRV, which will allow their users to get the best Curve yields.

LSDs have seeded liquidity on Curve, meaning that Yearn could allow LSD liquidity depositors to boost their yield with their $veCRV.

So how does this tie into yETH?

Well, it seems likely that Yearn will be using their veCRV and their compounding strategies for the LSDs.

Below, we can see how the yields of the $frxETH Curve LP and $sfrxETH validator yields could be compounded.

Catalyst #1: LSDs

Yields will be auto-compounded and $CRV emissions will be maximised.

Yearn will likely carry this out for all other LSDs included in yETH.

Hence, it is likely for yETH to have the best LSD yield in the game.

As we have seen, the magnitude of yield is clearly an important factor for LSD users.

The TVL for $frxETH has been consistently on the rise, as it offers more yield compared to blue-chip players like Lido.

With its attractive yields, I expect to see strong TVL growth for yETH immediately.

Yearn is also likely to take a fee for providing yETH. Normally, fees are directed to the treasury which is then used for buybacks.

This is real buying pressure on $YFI.

Catalyst #1: LSDs

The value accrual for $YFI could be off the charts if yETH was to be launched successfully.

Being a blue-chip protocol and likely offering the best LSD yield soon, the success of yETH is more than probable.

Catalyst #2: veYFI

$veYFI is currently undergoing an audit for stakers to be able to receive a share of fees.

There is also potential for bribes since veYFI may be able to be used for voting on vaults.

Catalyst #2: veYFI

With more fees flowing in from yETH, there will be more value accrued to $YFI whether from buybacks or fee revenue.

A classic flywheel effect. Love it.

$ETH Shanghai Upgrade

The much awaited Shanghai upgrade is approaching us in a month.

ETH stakers will finally be able to unlock their staked ETH. I think this is bullish for LSDs.

As unlocks are enabled, it will be confirmed that the LSDs can be redeemed for ETH 1:1.

LSD Narrative

People will be more confident to stake their ETH knowing that they can get it back.

As LSDs allow for flexibility and more yields, people will be looking out for the best LSD $yETH 👀

Market Cap

Just a quick thing to take note, $YFI's market cap is about $310M.

This is still quite far off from protocols like $FXS and $RPL at $780M and $920M.

There could be much upside to be discovered 🤯

Actions Moving Forward

To take advantage of the narrative and the release of yETH, let us analyse a few actions we can take.

Using TA, we can see that price of $YFI has convincingly broken above the previous resistance of $8.6K.

It even retested it and bounced off it.

The current $9.4K level could act as a support since price has tested this region multiple times previously.

The psychological level of $10K has caused two rejections in the past few days.

If $YFI holds between $9.4-10K by today,  an entry may be wise

How To Take Profit

Previously, $YFI suffered some insane rejection from the $14.2K level, indicating strong resistance.

One could enter at around $9.4K and exit at $14.2K, copping a 50% gain, not too shabby 🥴

How To Take Profit #2

We could hold up to the day of Shanghai, where we are likely to experience a selloff due to the typical "sell the news".

We saw this happen during the Merge, where $ETH closed 10% lower.

Selling just before Shanghai could be wise.

How To Take Profit #3

If we followed the second strategy, we could then get back in after the selloff.

We could proceed to use TVL stats to gauge when is a good time to sell.

To me, I would take profit after I notice a stagnation in the growth of $yETH.

We can track the TVL of LSDs on @DefiLlama.

We preferably want to continue seeing numbers similar to what $frxETH is experiencing.

Market share could also be a good gauge in which we could aim for something like 5%.

However, do note that TVL of LSDS may experience an influx after Shanghai is successful.

That would mean that the market size has increased.

Conclusion

$YFI seems set to roar as the release of yETH and veYFI approaches.

With the Shanghai upgrade nearby, I see a strong bull case for blue coin 🧐

Personally, I pride myself on my ability to spot fundamentally sound projects and to catch trends early.

For e.g, I spotted $GMX when it was in the low 20s last year, catching onto a fundamentally strong project along with the DEX narrative.

Outsourcing An Edge

I am no macro expert, so how did I get the conviction to all-in in late December?

I analysed the theses of @GCRClassic and @Crypto_Joe10, who were certain that crypto had reached a bottom.

Thus, I evaluated their thoughts to form my own course of action.

I am a noob at NFTs. I did not even have a clue about the existence of @blur_io until @JiaHo and @NftShorts told me about it.

They are NFT specialists and taught me the best ways to farm the $BLUR airdrop even with my limited capital.

Join A Community

There is only so much information you can take in on your own. I'm lucky enough to be a part of @FungiAlpha.

Every day, we share different ideas and projects with each other. Some of us may be more well-versed in LSD projects and some in GameFi etc.

Portfolio Allocation

I have three high-conviction bets. $FXS $IMGNAI $BUGS
These are coins that I would not be selling until close to the end of the cycle.

The other portion of my portfolio is for chasing the narrative as well as other fundamentally sound projects.

Conviction

In a bear market where down swings are likely, one must have conviction in their bets; fumble too early, and massive gains are likely to be lost.

I bought $GRAIL at $215 and sold it all just before it rallied to where it is today. All because I had no conviction.

Taking Profits And Rotations

I take profits on my lower-cap bets by taking out my initials after a 2x. This allows me to maintain exposure while decreasing risk.

I rotate the profits into other projects that are gaining hype.

Overtrading

However, I made the mistake of rotating too often. This resulted in poor conviction in my trades, as I was jumping on literally anything.

Instead, I should have stuck to narratives that I had more confidence in.

Spotting Narratives

I keep a lookout for catalysts that may spark something.

A recent example would be the ban on $BUSD. This showed a clear need for decentralised stablecoins,

Hence, increasing my conviction on $FXS along with the LSD narrative catalyzed by Shanghai.

Resources And Tools

There are many threads out there that tell you the best tools in crypto.

I keep it simple with my utmost favourite, @DefiLlama.
TVL is a vital metric to gauge growth in an ecosystem overtime.

The graphs below give me conviction in $FXS and #Arbitrum.

Diversification

Always diversify your bets. Luna taught me a hard lesson:
Tail risks are very real.

Expect any project that you invest in to be able to go to zero.

Get rid of the unsystematic risks by having multiple bets.

However, keep in mind that your portfolio should be kept as lean as possible. Too many bets would mean poor research and conviction.

Have a good number of bets that still enable you to keep up with each and every one of them.

Review your portfolio and ask yourself:

"Do you really know what you are buying?"

"What are your reasons for holding this coin?"

Reflection

I've started keeping track of my progress daily, and I write down my mistakes and my good trades weekly.

Stay accountable to yourself.

Learn from what went wrong to improve what went right for you.

Also a good major bet since it is more stable relative to alts.

Next up is $VELA, a strong competitor for the DEX throne. They are promising features such as trade automation, fiat ramps and much more.

As I have addressed before in my medium article, DEXes are greatly lagging behind in UX.

Altcoins that will 100X in echo bubble

$FXS has been showing crazy strength and basically up only over the past week. I think it is likely to continue being strong😏

The main reason why $FXS has been outperforming is mainly due to $frxETH, the LSD of Frax. This has been leading $FXS to up only on the charts!

But how so?

$frxETH users has two main sources of yield. The first one being the frxETH-ETH Curve LP.

What is this LP for? It is to ensure deep liquidity of $frxETH to $ETH swaps and vice versa, maintaining $frxETH’s peg to $ETH.

With a strong peg to $ETH, $frxETH users do not need to worry about losing their capital due to a depeg.

This increases the safety of liquid staking $ETH on Frax.

Frax holds a lot of $vlCVX, allowing them to direct emissions towards the frxETH-ETH Curve LP. This increases the rewards for the liquidity providers and incentivises deep liquidity.

As rewards are in $CRV, there is no need to dilute $FXS by giving it out as incentives.

As we can see, the incentives are clearly working as TVL for the Curve LP has been rising steadily just as the new year started.

$frxETH has been able to keep a strong peg to $ETH at 0.9994 $ETH per $frxETH as of the time of writing this.

The next source of yield would be simply staking $frxETH. Users are rewarded with $sfrxETH which accrues staking rewards for them.

As more users deposit liquidity in the Curve Pool, there are more staking rewards leftover to be distributed to stakers and vice versa.

With two attractive yield strategies for $frxETH holders and a strong peg, liquid staking your $ETH on Frax becomes a very attractive option.

Now onto the juicy part, so how does this equate to the flywheel effect that is causing $FXS to outperform?

A 10% fee is taken from the staking rewards for liquid staking your $ETH on Frax. Pretty standard stuff for LSDs.

The main point here is that 80% of the fees accrued goes to FXS stakers😱

$FXS has been soaking up all these goodness from the increased adoption of $frxETH.

Price has pretty much been up only and recovers fast even on a dip.

Why is the flywheel effect likely to continue? The liquid staking narrative is getting stronger as Shanghai upgrade approaches in March.

An affirmation of staked withdrawals mean that liquid stakers would not have to worry about not getting their actual $ETH back.

The yields and deep liquidity for $frxETH are hard to pass. TVL for $frxETH continues to rise day after day, almost doubling even as 2023 has just started.

With a stronghold on the Curve bribes, Frax has been able to put out an attractive staking APY of over 9% for your ETH!

As not everyone is staking their $frxETH and are putting it into the Curve LP, the share of rewards has become larger for each $sfrxETH holder.

From a TA perspective, it’s pretty much clear skies from $11.50 onwards. With little resistance in its way from there and the flywheel effect playing out strongly, more fireworks are likely to be witnessed🤩 $FXS
