Typefully is fantastic and way too cheap for what you get.
We’ve tried many alternatives at @framer but nothing beats it. If you’re still tweeting from Twitter you’re wasting time.

LastPass has compromised users' passwords?
Using password manager is a must but I've always been wary of cloud-based solutions like LastPass.
If you need an alternative solution or you don't use password manager at all, read this short thread before it's too late.

WHAT IS A PASSWORD MANAGER?
It's software that helps users store and manage their passwords in a secure way.
Password managers are designed to make it easier for users to create and use strong, unique passwords for their various accounts.
WHY TO USE A PASSWORD MANAGER?
Using a unique and strong password for each account is the best security practice.
If one password leaks out, it can't compromise other accounts.
But remembering hundreds of passwords is impossible.
We need password managers to do it for us.
HOW DOES A PASSWORD MANAGER WORK?
It stores all user's passwords in an encrypted form and enables access to them with a single master password.
The security of this solution depends on the master password.
It should be strong, unique and not shared with anyone.
WHERE ARE THE PASSWORDS STORED?
The encrypted passwords are stored on the password manager's servers or locally on the user's device.
If servers or local storage are compromised, the leaked passwords won't be in their plain-text form.
They will still be encrypted.
WHAT HAPPENED WITH LASTPASS?
LastPass stores users' encrypted passwords on their servers.
It's hard to know what exactly happened and how encrypted vault was compromised.
And it's possible we will never know because it's not an open-source software.

WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?
Open-source password managers, like KeePass or Bitwarden.
With open-source software, the code is publicly available which allows users to see what it really does.
I believe the transparency of open-source solutions makes them more secure and robust.
KEEPASS OR BITWARDEN?
KeePass stores passwords locally, Bitwarden on their servers.
I'm a huge proponent of self-custody, not only when it comes to crypto but also regarding my own passwords.
That's why I use KeePass on both my PC and smartphone and I can highly recommend it.
TO LASTPASS USERS:
Maybe it's all fud but it's better to be safe than sorry:
- Use KeePass to generate new strong passwords for each of your accounts you had in LastPass.
- Remember to set up a new super-strong master password for KeePass.
Stay safe!
