🚨🎨 ARTIST DISCOVERY IS BAAAACK 🎨🚨
It's been a crazy few weeks! I really enjoyed meeting so many artists and collectors in NYC (luckily I avoided COVID), but it made catching up on IRL work last week a real bear. Nevertheless, we make time for art!
2/ @bckwrdsgeometry
BG is bringing the heat lately! His current series, 'Content in Disarray', is quietly hitting 13, 14, and 19 SOL prices in the last few weeks. Color fields, erasure, and glitch techniques create strong (de)compositions that hide subtle details for zooming.
3/ @fikrihaikala
Surreal (read: strange) collages with a variety of mediums from digital to physical with watercolors or acrylic sometimes mixed in. These pieces are really fun but also very well composed, with great balance and color work.
4/ @GEORGINAHOOPER_
Just hitting SOL last week, Georgina is bringing an extremely unique style. Her mark-making uses calligraphic strokes in various colors and angles, forming an abstraction of an immersive metaphysical space. The color and flow of these pieces is breathtaking.
5/ @boywithnolegs
Speaking of unique styles, No Legs is one of the only artists using clay as their medium and it's amazing. His 'Clayscapes' series constructs interesting surreal scenes with vibrant colors and even some animation! I own none and it makes me very sad 😫
6/ @laser_lew
Let's keep the uniqueness rolling with the ONLY laser artist I am aware of. These intricate scenes are created from hrs of laser/mirror/glass setup inside a home closet, and make for super interesting and vivid work. Go watch one of his process videos - it's wild!
7/ @HollyHerbertAr1
Dropping 🔥 with her 8pc genesis series on SOL, 'Circulate', Holly creates analog artwork and then adds digital elements/edits to build the final piece. Her work is fluid and chaotic, but as I get lost in the colors and patterns, I feel a sense of peace.
8/ @huxsterized
As @superjimmer pointed out yesterday, Hux has some serious talent with the 📸. The minimal compositions with bright colors and bold geometry are so striking. The collection is beautifully cohesive and everything is shot on iphone. Excited to see more!
9/ @ewa_matyja_
Ewa creates large-scale physical abstractions hung in collections around the globe. There is a feeling of softness in her strokes and pastel palettes, but a boldness in her forms and marks which create nice tension. Her work on SOL is digital only (for now 😉).
10/ That's a wrap for the week! A big shoutout to all the artists & collectors keeping things going in a tough market. The positivity and resiliency I see daily is a reminder of why I love the art movement on SOL so much!
Please RT to shine a light on these amazing artists!
