πΈπΈ Artist Spotlight π§΅#10!!! πΈπΈ
Welcome to a very special edition - PHOTOGRAPHY! We all know photography season is just around the corner, so I thought it'd be a perfect opportunity to showcase some of my favorite shooters on Solana!
π§΅π
3/ Ok, now let's get into this week's photography picks!
4/ @douglasrmccurdy
If you are around the sol art scene, you already know this basketball-loving surrealist πΈ, colloquially known now as 'ducklas'. But if you're new - he's the π. I've never covered him because he didn't need discovery, but I can't have a πΈπ§΅ w/o mentioning.
5/ @byjohnnyjordan
Another π in the πΈ space, but not as well known on sol. Johnny has a knack for capturing everyday moments dripping w/ feeling. Each time I look at a photo, it seems to tap into my own memory bank and transport me into a similar scene I've experienced myself.
6/ @EMCN13
It feels like Edward is really hitting his stride. His bnw work is typically focused on architecture and I love some of his 'London Brutalism' pieces that feel like abstract works. The newest series, 'City Reading', is quite experimental and different. More pls!
7/ @omarxdod
Another bnw specialist, Omar captures beautiful slice-of-life images. Sometimes very powerful and strong, sometimes subtle and voyeuristic, but always captivating.
8/ @willuhuhh
Will is a cross-chain travel photographer, whose recent series 'Puerto' caught my eye with its cotton candy coloring and retro-y grain texture resulting from the use of expired film.
9/ @rich_herrmann
Rich is a phenomenal nature and landscape photographer, capturing moments of natural drama that make you feel small but peaceful. He reminds us of the power of the natural world.
10/ @kirkenglehardt
Kirk is a natural storyteller and his recent drop on @exchgART taps into vintage Americana and childhood nostalgia as it captures scenes from an arcade. There's something about the angles and the light that create exactly the right amount of suspense.
11/ @erhancrypto
The shadow master. Erhan is a street photographer who expertly creates drama with light and shadow. I find it interesting to see his own shadow popping up in some images. Most photographers want to be hidden, but he's not afraid to be a part of the scene.
12/ @GricioAriel
Brazilian photographer on the slightly experimental side, often playing with different substances and materials to create light-bending or painterly effects. Really interesting stuff!
13/ @kaileyajohnson
A lot of Kailey's work focuses on bnw street photography, but it was her 'Wither and Bloom' series that really stood out to me. A unique concept of capturing plantlife at moments of bloom and wither which reminds us of the fragility of life. Stunning work.
17/ As a final disclaimer, I don't own all of the pieces featured (I do own a few though). These are usually just my favorite pieces from a given artist.
