1. Today, @zachxbt exposed @DFintoch for stealing $31 MILLION in a scam from over 138k holders (Zack tweet linked below). If you visit DFintoch’s Twitter page, you’ll see they were recently featured on Yahoo Finance. How, you might wonder, does a ponzi make it to Yahoo?
2. When you click through the Yahoo link, here’s what you’ll find. See those yellow highlights? That means this is NOT a news story from Yahoo; it’s a press release. You can write a press release and put it on the wire services for less than $1000.
3. Yahoo picks up most press releases, and press releases are NOT verified. When a random Twitter account links to a “news article”, be sure to double check the source to see if the linked “article” is truly news or if it’s just a press release. Don’t get scammed!
4. Here’s Zach’s tweet. Thanks for the great work, as always, Zach! twitter.com/zachxbt/status/1661129110062788608
