On Monday, Lizzie Warren sent a letter to SEC demanding it investigate Tesla for conflicts of interest after Elon’s purchase of Twitter.
Today, Elon and Twitter responded by sending a subpoena to Lizzie demanding that she turnover documents and communications between her and the SEC and FTC relating to Musk and Twitter.
Lizzie is a PROLIFIC letter writer. I can’t find the source right now, but she write mores letters per year than almost any member of Congress. Basically all of her letters are designed to stir up shit that she doesn’t like.
Keep in mind that individual shareholders of Tesla (a) are up 141% YTD, and (b) do not need either Lizzie or the SEC to protect them as they have the right to bring something called a “shareholder derivative suit” against Elon if they believe he breached his duties…
to Tesla by improperly using Tesla resources to run Twitter. Lizzie’s letter isn’t designed to protect shareholders; it’s designed to create issues for a person that she does not like (as is the case for most of the letters that she writes).
I’m glad to see Elon hit back. Federal agencies are not the political tools of members of Congress to wield against those with whom they disagree and do not like.
