A landing page is created for a specific purpose. To collect leads or sell a product or service.
Typically a free resource is given free as a lead magnet to create an exchange of value. Email address for the free training, pdf, course, challenge etc. A landing page can also be created to promote a newsletter.
Landing pages are important because they focus on just one objective. Get people to take action. Opt In or buy.
For opt ins, a form is added to the page which connects to an email service provider (ESP).
Want more sales? Place a button to an order form, or embed the order form at to the bottom of the page below sales copy.
Today, many email providers like @ConvertKit, @ActiveCampaign, and @Mailchimp have a landing page feature which makes it easy to create a landing page and connect it to your list.
Tools like @Substack and @getRevue, create pages specifically for newsletter opt ins. Revue can also be integrated to Twitter to allow subscriptions natively in Twitter, as @ArtistZulma has done.
Test different versions of landing pages.
It's important to remember that a single version of a landing page will not effectively convert visitors to email subscribers.
To improve the rate of people opting in for your freebee (conversion rate), you will need to create multiple offers and optimize each page to improve conversions.
What can you test on your landing page?
- Headlines
- Call to actions
- Freebies
- Button text
- Colors
