Teil 6: Was ist eine Vorkonditionierung und brauche ich das?
Unter Vorkonditionieren versteht man, dass die Traktionsbatterie für in Vorrausicht für ein bestimmtes Ziel in einen bestimmten Systemzustand gebracht wird.

In aller Regel ist das die Temperierung durch einen Heiz-/Kühlkreislauf auf ein bestimmtes Temperaturfenster, kann aber auch z.B. ein außerplanmäßiges Balancing enthalten.
Betrachten wir zunächst mögliche Ziele für eine Vorkonditionierung:

Mögliches Ziel 1.: Energieeffizienz
In Teil 4 haben wir gelernt, das die Reichweite der Batterie u.A. von der Temperatur abhängt. Ein Teil der gespeicherten Energie geht während des Entladens am Innenwiderstand an Wärme verloren.

Die Menge an verlorener Energie ist umso höher, je niedriger die Temperatur der Zelle ist. Dasselbe gilt fürs Laden.
Man wird niemals genau soviel Energie aus der Batterie entnehmen können wie zuvor geladen wurde.
Kapazität in Ah: Ja,
Energie in kWh: Nein.

Der Energieverlust bei tiefen Temperaturen an einer realen Beispielzelle pro 10% SOC Umsatz beträgt ca. 10Wh und bei hohen Temperaturen noch 6Wh.

Die Verluste sind tatsächlich in Lade- und Entladerichtung nochmal unterschiedlich. Hochgerechnet auf eine Traktionsbatterie von z.B. 100 Zellen für die vollen 100% SOC wären das ~4kWh Unterschied durch Temperaturveränderung.

Um die Temperatur einer Batterie um ca 20°C zu verändern werden
etwa 1,5kWh Heiz-/Kühlenergie benötigt.
Die benötigte Heizenergie ist kleiner als die Differenz der Energieeffizienz durch Temperaturveränderung.

Die Aufheizung der Batterie um Energie zu sparen kann also ein Ziel sein.
Die genannten Werte können sich jedoch von Batterie zu Batterie und Zelle zu Zelle sehr stark unterscheiden und durchaus auch keinerlei Energiegewinn aufweisen!

Ebenso heizt sich die Batterie über den Innenwiderstand relativ schnell auf, sodass am Ende einer längeren Fahrt keine Heizung mehr notwendig wäre.

Mögliches Ziel 2: Alterung
In Teil 3 haben wir gelernt, das die Alterung der Batterie ebenso u.A. von der Temperatur und von der bei dieser Temperatur anliegende Belastung abhängt.

Bei sehr niedrigen Temperaturen ist die Alterung durch Strom-Belastung um ein vielfaches höher.
Die Temperatur zu erhöhen und den Strom zu verringern würde diese zyklische Alterung also verbessern.

Die Alterung soweit wie möglich zu verbessern ist sowohl Wunsch des Herstellers, als auch des Kunden und damit ein klares Ziel der Vorkonditionierung.

Mögliches Ziel 3: Ladedauer
Da der Hersteller bei tiefen Temperaturen zur Verhinderung von Alterung keine hohen Ladeströme mehr freigibt, erhöht sich automatisch die Ladedauer.
Die Vorkonditionierung hat also ebenso das Ziel die Batterietemperatur soweit zu erhöhen,

dass zum Ladezeitpunkt der maximal mögliche Ladestrom freigegeben werden kann.
Auch eine vorherige Ausbalancierung der Zellen trägt zur Verringerung der Ladedauer bei. Wie die einzelnen Strategien dafür Aussehen ist von OEM zu OEM unterschiedlich.
