Getting the Most out of a Hackathon

How to get the most of your hackathon. Not unserious thread 🪡 So last week I hack for the @auroraisnear x @encodeclub hackathon. Here's what I do to get the most of the hackathon and not get depleted but get more energy 👇👇👇

1/ Study the sponsor tech that you like. In my case it was @NEARProtocol's BOS (Blockchain OS). I found it fascinating because it is the holy grail of composability. More than ever I not get discourage by amount of code I should code to integrate frontend with my Smart Contract.

2/ Hack your way until it clicks. During this hackathon I got several roadblocks. From installing the CLI that has no @MacHomebrew package so I created it github.com/bos-cli-rs/bos-cli-rs/pull/52. I don't know about how Homebrew formula works, but I managed to create the package after all.

3/ Not stopping there I realized there are two CLI not one for the local BOS development. So I create another Homebrew package for the other one github.com/near/bos-loader/pull/6.

4/ I also found things that might be a bug in the tech that NEAR BOS have. So I created two others issues in their GitHub github.com/near/near-discovery/issues/269 github.com/near/near-discovery/issues/270 By creating this issue I want to give them an honest feedback and input as a developer that uses their pltfm.

5/ I also spot issue with their docs, so I updated that as well github.com/near/docs/pull/1417 - different with other PRs this one has been merged. I'm so happyyy

6/ During hackathon I also found issue with my tooling which is @NxDevTools and I found a middle-ground solution to my problem which doesn't have a long term solution. I'm not hesitate to share it to their github issue e.g. github.com/nrwl/nx/issues/8269#issuecomment-1606009411

7/ Lastly don't forget to finally submit your project. Mind was near the deadline, but happy to finally submit it. And yeah I publicly / #buildinpublic share it to Twitter so that I can get feedback. twitter.com/YoKulGuy/status/1673064187516395521?s=20
