🖊️ Honoré de Balzac once said: "For the artists, the biggest problem to solve is to put themselves in view."
I think that's what artists need the most: visibility, because it brings sales, notoriety, opportunities...
Let's see how to grow as an #artist.
🧵 Thread 🧵
1. Find people with same interest
Start working your network, get your work in front of everyone, and ask questions. Be an amateur. Finding a group / community of people with the same interest will help you.
And these people will talk about you, and tell you how to improve.
2. Don't sell a product but...
...sell an experience! Sell your story, the story of your artworks; talk about your vision, your passion and everything related to the CONTEXT.
Sell emotions, not a canvas.
3. Show a bit of your work, everyday
Doing a bit everyday is easier and will make you appear more consistent in your communication. At then end of the day, 30 days of content is better than 2 days of putting everything out.
4. Show your backstages
People want to see what is behind the magic. Showing how you create this artwork will give a lot more value to this artwork.
Because the process of creation has something mysterious and people can rely on this (more than "just another artwork").
5. Be a good storyteller
Master the ability to tell stories and you will master marketing. People are in need of stories, because stories are emotional.
Trying to sell something without having a bit of storytelling in it will make it appear as an another artwork.
6. Teach what you've learned
Teaching is a good way to make people curious about you. But it is also a good way to learn even more, thanks to the discussions you have while teaching.
That can also create opportunities if you want to build coaching sessions for other creatives.
7. Sell yourself
It's hard to hear, but your works are less important than YOU. Your works are made by you, and you should be the one in front of it.
Personal Branding is a game-changer when it comes to sell yourself: be a one-man brand, and spread it.
8. Stay close to everyone
Always keep an eye on people asking questions, posting comments or sending you messages. You NEED to answer to everyone, because this is part of your growth process.
You build a community step-by-step, and mostly by talking 1-on-1. Don't dodge it!
