A powerful skill that changed my financial position forever. Trading. But, 90% of traders fail because they aren't equipped with the necessary information before they start their journey. Here are 5 things you should know before you start trading:

1. Trading is the hardest way to make easy money. __ If you think that you're going to go from flipping burgers to flipping $500 to $50,000 one week after taking a weekend trading course, reframe your expectations. Those who turnover $1000s per trade have substantial capital.

2. Risk Management isn't optional, it's paramount. __ Define how much you're willing to lose before you engage the market. If your bankroll hits 0, you're out of the game. You'll have to get back to flipping burgers to accumulate capital to try again. Keep your losses small.

3. The learning curve is steep. __ There are more elements to trading than Technical Analysis. ie. trade management, stop loss placements, taking partials, managing your emotions. Trade lightly to survive the learning curve.

4. If you fail to plan your trades, you plan to fail. __ What asset classes will you focus on? What days of the week will you scout for setups? What are your rules of engagement? Where will you cut your loss? Where is your objective? If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

5. Mentors are invaluable. __ Mentors offers years of experience for you to lean on. They identify gaps in your understanding, flaws in your logic, and emotions you fall victim to. They can course-correct you. They will cut down your learning curve tremendously. Choose wisely.
