New to Zapier? Here's the highest ROI zap for beginners... I guarantee it's not what you think
First, a quick explainer on Zapier Zapier is like a complex highway intersection Cars are coming from and going in every direction. Changing cities Cars = data. Cities = apps. The highway intersection ensures fewer car crashes = less manual work. That's Zapier
So, what make's people the happiest in business? Sales. Cash money, baby So we take sales, add a gif, tell our teams (or ourselves @ solopreneurs), and multiply that sale's mood-boosting effect This zap is about morale and momentum. Let's dive in
1) Payment platform trigger We use Stripe to process payments, so that is our app. Our trigger event is a new subscription You could also use new customer or new payment. Think about your product and customer journey when determining the trigger event
2) Filter for active payments This is often overlooked! Shit happens. Payments fail. In that case, the zap should not continue. Especially when there's privacy contracts and drip campaigns at stake So I set a filter to only allow successful payments to continue in our zap
3) Find the contact in Hubspot We use Hubspot for our CRM. If you listen to @myfirstmilpod you could have guessed that We'll use the stripe payment email to find the customer in Hubspot
4) Update Lifecycle Stage to Customer Members receive nicely formatted welcome emails in @HubSpot, but those trigger when someone goes from "opportunity" to "customer" So we take this moment to update that lifecycle stage using the customer ID from step 3
5) Find a Gif This is a high leverage move - use @GIPHY to find a mood-boosting gif If your team has an inside joke about a TV show or your Christmas party, search that. We use "celebrate" for our search And hey, we're all adults. Use rated R content (it doesn't change much)
6a) Send the Gif Send by slack, email, discord, or even tweet it to the world I picked our sales channel and set up the message to say A) The new member's name B) The company's name C) The contact owner D) The $$$
6b) I send these messages as a bot (affectionately named "GrantBot"). Yes, GrantBot has it's own slack icon made with dall-e Use the URL from your Giphy step in the "attach image by URL" input IMPORTANT: Auto-expand links must be on
And there you have it! Automated slack messages that get the the people going Happy wife, happy life. Same goes for teams - happy teams win Put this zap in action today to multiply momentum on every sale
