Beehiiv will win in the referral and monetization game long term

- analytics
- recommendation engine
- engaged community
- internal company newsletter that spotlights it's creators

Substack is better now for consumption and short term sign ups

- ease of mobile app and desktop reading
- automatic conversion from text to audio via their mobile app so you can listen to newsletters
- getting new subscribers with their initial "new newsletter" push
