I wanna talk about something Iβve been thinking about lately, that I think could be really interesting on many fronts: Artist Whitepapers
I first heard about this sort of concept talking to @jmack_ent about one she was working on for her project and it got me to thinking βwhat if artists had one" that could talk a bit about themselves, their "whyβ and the like.
Floated this in the fantastic music NFT space @Pat_Dimitri & @EmilyLazar_SM were running earlier and the response seemed positive. @famous_dyl brought up how he has a deck he shows his collectors, which is a little too formal for my personality but similar energy.
When I think about βwhitepaperβ I think about explaining the circumstances that brought me to the point Iβm at. I also think about explaining my overarching mission as an artist (which I have, and a lot of artists just create without a mission in mind besides creating).
It actually took me a long time to put my βmissionβ into words, and I donβt get the opportunity to explain it to folks enough, so I imagine having a central point for that when people wanted to learn more about me could be nice.
βHi Iβm Dave...Black Dave in the streets. Iβm an artist working at the intersection of anime, streetwear & sneaker culture and rap music. Would love for you to check out my whitepaper in my bio to learn more about meβ sounds like a perfect intro to me.
This thread is brought to you by: βSharpβ my latest music NFT thatβs available via PartyBid which allows all members of that fractional ownership to vote on the future of the song β from public release to marketing to videos and so much more!

Other things I think would be cool to have showcased in my artistβs whitepaper is things that inspire me. I think about putting albums that are music inspirations, anime that I love, some of my favorite clothing and sneakers as well as brands and people who inspire me.
I think writing a whitepaper also sort of gets you familiar with my personality and tone. I like to think that I write exactly how I talk, in the sense that you could imagine me saying this as youβre reading it, and I would want that go come across as well.
I feel like thereβs a lot of upside to this idea in terms of discovery potential, and itβs not so formal as a βroadmapβ where I have to promise things to people β but I get to talk to them at length about my mindset, in whatever ways I decide to present.
I also hate bios. Would rather send that link to someone.
β¦anywayβ¦if you made it this far, I appreciate you reading. As always Iβd love to hear what you guys think about this. Okay, bye.
