Unfortunately I left before the picture, but it was awesome meeting @shreyas and many other wonderful people in person and seeing Shreyas in action outside Twitter answering many questions from a variety of themes. 🧵🧵🧵See some of my favorite insights on a thread: twitter.com/shreyas/status/1513667551871610880
1. Stay longer at places where people get it. Make it about yourself. Move quicker out of places where people don’t get you and where you are wasting a lot of your energy & influence - and is mostly accumulating frustrations.
2. “What is right for this situation? Alright, let’s do exactly that.” @shreyas on how he became a good manager only after almost 10 years as a manager when he joined Stripe.
3. “Good Product Management is all about Understanding the Truth, the truth about how the world or a particular domain or a segment of users actually works. You job as a PM is to decompose those “potential truths” into Hypothesis and then build the Product Strategy.” — @shreyas
4. Segmentation can be one of the most effective prioritization tools one PM can have. Example: Loom.
5. Use @KentBeck's 3X model as a way to see where your product is and decide what kind of product strategy you should use. Simple yet super powerful framework. You probably don’t need more than that in most cases.
6. One story that stuck with me was when @shreyas realized after a conversation with his SVP at Google (after denying promos multiple times) that the best way for him to scale his influence & impact in Product Management (and create more PMs like him) was by becoming a Manager.
