🧵 As promised, here goes The Amex Trifecta Thread. The 🇮🇳 version of the Amex Trifecta is basically a set of 3 cards that you can use and maximize your MR earnings through milestone bonuses on the cards. Let’s start with, why this Trifecta. 👇

The baseline reward for most Amex cards is 1MR per ₹50, which isn’t particularly great, & hence earning MRs on Amex can be a long and slow journey. This setup accelerates this process enabling you to earn a total of 1.09L MRs for the first year and around ~85K MRs next year on.

💳 The Cards The 3 cards that are a part of this trifecta are: 1️⃣ Membership Rewards Credit Card (MRCC) 2️⃣ Gold Charge Card 3️⃣ Platinum Travel Credit Card Amex generally allows you to hold a maximum of one charge card and two credit cards.

👉 Let’s start with the MRCC a. Welcome Benefit: 4K MR in spending ₹15K in 90 days. Maxing this card out is very simple, it offers you the following monthly milestones. b. 1K MR on doing 4 * ₹1.5K transactions c. 1K MR on total spends of 20K on the card (including b.)

The 4 * ₹1.5K transactions could be anything, I use it to load my wallets, be it APay or PayTM. Amex remains one of the rare issuers that still offers reward points on wallet load. d. Total monthly rewards: 2.4K MRs x. Total annual rewards: 32.8K MRs (a+(d*12))

That’s it, that’s all you use this card for each month, and then it goes back into the sock drawer. 4 * 1.5K transactions and a total of 20K spends. For the second milestone, ensure you enroll your card in the offer.

👉 Next up, The Gold Charge Card. Another utterly simple card to optimize. a. Welcome Bonus: 4K MRs on spending ₹10K within 90 days. b. Just like the MRCC, this too has one milestone benefits each month. 1K MR on doing 6*₹1K transactions each month. Monthly MRs: 1220

Another benefit of this card is that it offers 5x on the Amex Reward Multiplier program. So apart from the 6K transaction every month, you could probably use it to shop for brands that exist on the Amex Reward Multiplier program. y. Total Annual Rewards: 18640 (a+b*12)

And that’s all with the gold charge. I personally just use it for the 6*1K transactions into APay and the card goes back into storage. Next up, is the big daddy in this lot. 👇

💳 The Platinum Travel (not to be confused with the Platinum Charge). a. Welcome Bonus: 10K MRs on spending ₹15K in the first 90 days. Unlike the MRCC & the Gold Charge cards discussed above, Platinum Travel doesn’t have any monthly milestones.

It instead has a couple of annual spend-based milestones. The target is to spend a total of ₹4L in a year on this card. b. ₹1.5L of annual spend you get 15K MRs c. ₹4L of annual spend you get another 25K MRs d. ₹4L of annual spending, you also get a ₹10K Taj Voucher.

The 4L of spend will also fetch you the regular rewards at a rate of 1MR for every ₹50 spent. d. Regular MRs earned: 8000 z. Total accrued rewards: 58000 MRs + 10K Taj Voucher (a+b+c+d)

As you can see using this “trifecta” you can earn a total of 1,09,440 MRs in a year. (x+y+z). 💸 Let's look at the annual fees of the card: 👉 MRCC: ₹1000 for the first year, ₹4500 2nd year onwards. 50% fee waiver on spending ₹90K in a membership year, 100% on spending ₹1.5L

👉 Gold: ₹1000 for the first year, ₹4500 2nd year onwards. 👉 Platinum Travel: ₹3500 for the first year, ₹5000 2nd year onwards. ℹ️ Tip: The MRCC card can be had as a free companion card to the Gold Charge, so apply for the Gold first and then get the MRCC for free.
