Bitcoin Conference in Sofia, Bulgaria 2024

The Bulgarian capital Sofia hosted a #Bitcoin conference on June 8-9. Here are some interesting projects that presented at the conference and some highlights: 📜 👇

1/7 Aleksander Svetski @SvetskiWrites introduced his upcoming book "The Bushido of Bitcoin", about a code of virtues on a Bitcoin Standard. Proof of work = beauty = truth.. and with our own actions we can make this a reality and set an example!

2/7 Svetski also introduces Satlantis @JoinSatlantis, a social media app with a focus on traveling. Satlantis is a Nostr client with user-generated information about different cities. Think of Tripadvisor, Booking, Google reviews all in one app, with BTC payments via Nostr.

3/7 Pierre Corbin @CierrePorbin talked about the Nostr Wallet Connect protocol @nwc_dev that can bring bitcoin Lightning payments to ANY app via a Nostr relay! @paywflash is a software solution using NWC under the hood to e.g. enable BTC subscription payments for businesses.

4/7 Ben de Waal @Ben_deWaal gave a useful tip about spending bitcoin: Call a high-end restaurant (that doesn't accept BTC) and say that you would like to book a table for a 3-course meal. At the end of the call say that you would like to pay with BTC. You might get surprised!

5/7 Endo Rivers @qbp talked about @BitcoinWalkOrg, a Bitcoin meet-up that combines talking about Bitcoin with walking and fresh air! Seems like the concept is taking over the world! twitter.com/BitcoinWalkOrg/status/1778726574344245616

6/7 Daniel Prince @Princey21M was MC'ing, and instantly became my favorite Bitcoin conference MC. Professional, but relaxed style with enough humor sprinkled in here and there.

7/7 Many other interesting talks, and there was also program in Bulgarian. Thanks to Plamen Andonov @Plamen__Andonov and the organizing team for a great conference experience!
