In 2014, I was lying in a hammock on vacation in Montauk, NY. I had a copy of Making Ideas Happen by @scottbelsky and it helped me reframe everything I was working on. Here's what hit me.š
"Many of us spend too much time searching for the next great idea, my research shows that we would be better served by developing the capacity to make ideas happen ā a capacity that endures over time." š¤Æ @scottbelsky
The book lays out the tools required to make ideas happen in this way:
š” (The Idea)
ā Organization and Execution
ā Forces of Community
ā Leadership Capability
š° Making Ideas Happen
1. Organization and Execution - The way you organize projects, prioritize, and manage your energy is arguably more important than the quality of ideas you with to pursue.
Need help organizing? Check out these fine folks:

2. Forces of Community - "Community opens the door to new approaches for old challenges & spurs more informed & powerful creative instinct. Accountability...is what binds you to the relentless pursuit of your ideas."
I just joined Twitter and immediately found people building amazing communities, like:
@OzolinsJanis and @jayclouse (this thread is part of #tweet100)
3. Leadership Capability - is what makes the pursuit of an idea sustainable, scalable, and ultimately successful. Leadership capability relates to both your leadership of others as well as your ability to lead yourself.
I ā¤ļø #coaches because of the magic they can make when they help a client expand what they believe is possible and make their ideas happen.
It's also why I trained with @CoactiveLeaders and use a Co-Active approach with my clients.
