On the latest @EdgeWebRadio @erinsparks and @Optimisey discussed @JohnMu's thought on the Search Off The Record podcast about using AI generated images.

The question at hand is are they allowed or a violation of @Google's guidelines.

I understand the main quandary because AI tech generation has become a hot topic as of late. But when it comes to images, I don't see how it would be problem.

Am I missing something here? Images are more subjective and using Dalle or Midjourney or any of the AI text-to-image generators would be just the same. Text can manipulate the rankings, can images?

Am I thinking too much? What do you think?

I remember working for a company once and my boss, who I adored, very rarely let us work remote. This was a big factor in why I went back out on my own, among other reasons.

I know entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster. There's ups and downs, sometimes in the same hour. But the freedom it came give is next to none.

Friday, I took off from work, and packed my suit case and drove 5 hours north to Vermont for a quick visit with my parents.

I knew I needed a break. So I took it. I didn't have to make sure I vacation days. I just went.

And can I tell you something. It was needed.

So with the world opening up again, and employees and employers having a taste of remote/hybrid work, I have to ask. Do you really need to go into an office EVERY day to be productive?

Work/Life Balance Is Important

When to see Lion King on Broadway last night. The production was incredible. The staging was beyond amazing. The cast was great. Only three slow (no original to the movie) songs that made me want to sleep. But so good.

Trip to NYC

Working with an agency or for that matter a freelancer on your site, it's not a bad thing to spell EVERYTHING out. Honestly, it's the only way to not have things go back and forth and be delayed.

Assuming that the designer will know to add something to the site because that's how it was done before is not a good excuse for not just including it in the directions.

Why leave anything up for interpretation? It's not saying anything bad about you that you want things done right the first time, nor is it bad that the designer needs everything spelled out.

What if they assumed something and it wasn't right? Extra work for no reason.

See where I'm going with this?

So, when working with any contractor or agency, just spell things out and if things are missed because you didn't do that, don't get upset.

This #IndependenceDay feels different. I've never been one for fireworks and getting bitten by mosquitos in the dark. But with rights being taken away from the majority of the population, this #4thOfJuly I'm taking a pause to think about where our country is going.

I'm not doing a boycott of the 4th, because what the flying heck would that even do? It's not a business. But I am reflecting on what I can do to force change in the US.


The PA governor elections are this November. And they're pretty much between a "Nazi" and a Jew. Now I know I'll get hate for calling the GOP nominee a Nazi, but he continually blames things on the Jews, that seems Nazi-like to me. And @JoshShapiroPA is a Jew.

Regardless, Josh Shapiro is extremely qualified for the Governorship. I just worry that if the GOP nominee wins, how horrible PA will become.

So these are things I'm thinking about today.


I'm thinking about my female family and friends who have had a basic human right taken away from them (again, I'll probably get hate for this statement). I will do what I can to support Woman's Rights.


I know this is a giant ramble/rant, but I have to share it.

Potential clients often seem to think that SEO is something that is done for a while and then stays put. Nope...

SEO is a constant battle between your site and your competitors. To make it even harder, Google and the other search engines try to make things "fair" by constantly updating their algorithm.


SEO is constantly changing and because of the optimizers have to stay on top of the latest trends, updates, news, etc.

This all takes time which equals money.


This is why you need to run when someone says they can do optimization for a couple hundred a month. They are just putting in the basics and not doing the ongoing work.


SEO, though you don't pay the search engines for ranking, isn't free and shouldn't be considered free.

At least it's your time, which we've established is money. At most it's hiring a firm like mine (Goldstein Media) to optimize your site and keep up on everything.


So the next time you go out and look for a company to help you with SEO, remember it is time intensive, it's not once and done, and most of all you have to stay with it to get the rewards.

SEO Is A Long Game

I'm not sure how I feel about Julian Assange. There I said it.

On one hand he can be considers a journalist and a leaker/whistleblower. 

But how he went about leaking some of the docs and files he had was irresponsible. 

So like I said... I'm not sure if I'm okay with calling him by that moniker.

Especially when there are journalist out there like @bobwoodward and @carlbernstein.

So it looks like @elonmusk is going to most likely buy Twitter. I'm not trilled about this. Not one bit. And I moved away from Twitter for a bit to Mastodon. I'm still there and using it regularly. But there is something about the ecosystem on Twitter than makes it so sticky.

What I fear is that with Elon at the helm Twitter will get worse than it already is and bullying will get worse.

I liked that Twitter was a public company, but because it's a closed system the board can do what it wants and we're just along for the ride.

Will I jump ship from Twitter totally? Probably not, but I definitely cheering for the fediverse and services like Mastodon.

They discuss how it's hard to get podcaster's emails in bulk. But it is possible.

But is it spam? Is it annoying? It can be.

It's for this reason I have email addresses specifically for my shows. Many of the podcasts I listen to have gmail or professional domain name email addresses. This way advertisers and PR reps can reach out and not bog down my other emails.

I use Fastmail for both of my podcasts' email address. And yes I do get quite a bit of queries about being on my shows and what not, but they're confined to those addresses. So I don't feel like it's a big deal.

Is Having A Podcast Giving You More Spam?

Thinking about the power of Twitter about the freedom of the Fediverse.

Mastodon is hopping right now with people who don't like the closed nature of Twitter and how it can literally be purchased by one megalomaniac under the guise of free speech.

But the true power of Twitter is that the people you want to follow are there. For now. But will this change? Only time will tell.

What people should do is look at the alternatives to be aware of them. That's all I'm saying. Mastodon and the Fediverse is a great place. It's a different place and different from Twitter. That's what makes it special. So come say hi!
