6 Lessons I learned from my father about entrepreneurship:

1. He taught me to never settle especially when all odds are against you. He fought discrimination to work a simple office job after immigrating to America (even with a degree and qualifications) but he never gave up.

2. He taught me the ethic of putting in the reps & building a high-value brand in the mind's eye of all around you. He worked from the bottom as a clerk and retired as the VP Controller for a major international bank and was given special roles through each merger & acquisition.

3. He taught me that opportunity is made by using comedy, candor, and camaraderie to build lasting connections with people. These same people ended up crying with him and championing him in dire times through the hardest moments of his life.

4. He taught me the art of living lean. He lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with 4 other roommates for a few years while he was going to night school and making only $10,300/year. He retired with 7 figures.

5. He taught me that becoming excellent was about being essential to others. He learned everything about the job and every skill to not only be the best at what he did but to be better than his superiors at certain jobs.

6. He taught me that what really shapes our character is how we deal with failure and how we carry our burdens. I witnessed him recover from a horrible stroke in 2015 and now lives a simple retired life full of laughter, good food, and hopefully some travel sometime soon.
