11 forgotten tactics that will bulletproof your reasoning and persuasion skills ⸺Thread⸺
Stop persuading and LISTEN Your best shot at being heard is first... Listening Before you announce your presence and expect people to understand you Take a moment and see where others are coming from See what points & pain are talked about And ask questions to dig deeper
Formulate GOOD questions All questions start with: Who What Where When Why How If you add too much context you start asking 5 things instead of 1 And you confuse both yourself and the person who will answer it Vague questions mean you lack confidence Be specific
Don't rely on just intuition or belief Intuition is the highest form of intelligence And conviction is a surefire way to sound convincing But "feeling" or "believing" something doesn't mean others feel or believe too Uncover the facts Evidence will help you make your case
Enthusiasm > Conviction Conviction is a cover-up for fear And fear is the killer of all good reasoning Instead of conviction Resort to enthusiasm It's still a strong emotion to work with But you're not hooked to the debatable truth Detach yourself from your beliefs
Truth vs Fact vs Emotion "Your truth" is debatable Never fall into the trap of emotional reasoning Feelings are not facts Appeals to emotion kills your character Focus on facts. Remember: • Emotion is powerful • Truth is acceptable • Facts are indisputable
Make sure your conclusions add up Each conclusion is made up of a series of premises -- a foundational theory And it works like math. If a premise is false, the conclusion is too Premise + Premise + Premise -------------- Conclusion Make the logic work. No loopholes.

Actually *Draw* Conclusions To convey your thinking It's better to diagram it You don't have to be an artist But you can make a few lines and shapes Or use a purposeful image All of a sudden BOOM You have a thought process more people can understand
Invoke Intentional Emotion This is not emotional reasoning This is about staking a claim AND using the power of words to illustrate The fact is... People fall asleep on logic And emotion helps them pay attention But NEVER manipulate Speak from enthusiasm
Make More Meaningful Calls To Action Don't just say BUY THIS BOOK ENTER YOUR EMAIL JOIN OUR COMMUNITY People are zoning out every time you do this It fatigues old viewers and disinterests new ones Instead, add: • Emotion • More personality • The benefit to the viewer
Tell Better Stories Your logic will crystallize your points Your character will credit what you say But narrating is the best way to do both Speak from experience only Structure your stories so that others can follow along and be captured twitter.com/sanathemonster/status/1519994936552132608
