I automated the creation of hundred gifs for @buildbySTL’s upcoming cohort.
Here’s how we went about creating them🧵
So @pablomuralo and I were tasked with creating GIFs to welcome new members of the @BuildBySTL cohort.
It was a laborious thing to do and we had to automate it.
To automate, we chose Figma over Canva/other video editing tools.
3. Our first thought was to make an After Effects/Canva template and render 100 of them one by one.
Our challenge was that it would’ve taken forever to customize data for 100+ users.
So we created a Figma template and turned it into a component.
4. The next step was to add all the data.
We imported all the names and images for each user on Figma from Google Sheets, through this amazing plugin: figma.com/community/plugin/735770583268406934/Google-Sheets-Sync
It helped us quickly add all of the content to the variants.
8. If we would have gone with some other tool, it could have taken a couple of hours to finish the project, but with Figma, we were able to wrap it up way too easily and quickly.
This was my story of how Figma plugins saved me time, what tools have saved you?
