I realized there is low knowledge of the history of @EtherOrcs and where we are today.
We have evolved immensely since October '21 when we launched, but it's easy to forget the provenance of the project.
Here's a quick thread on the last 9 months at @EtherOrcs... 👹🧵
Launched in October '21 kicking off the fully on chain game phenomenon.
With it were a number of firsts:
--New method of rendering pixel art on fully chain (now standard)
--First fully on chain gamification and gamified rarity
All for free and (foolishly) without royalties..
Immediately created a complex raiding system to find BONESHARDS to mint out the Allies: classed characters who produce their own consumables.
Players customize their own gear, equipment, and rarity based on decisions they make with their Allies.
In this process, we realized transaction costs were a major barrier and created a custom L2 polygon bridge to enable assets to remain on Eth while playing on Polygon.
The more experience we gained in Web3 gaming, the more apparent it was that a P2E model focused on ROI, token yield, and GameFi was unsustainable...
Simultaneously, we saw the collapse of major and minor players who promised something fundamentally broken...
The solution is simple: make it fun, make ownership the focus, and give people a lot of things to do.
We started development of Dungeon Crawling our interactive game mode. This is an interactive dungeon crawling turn based rogue like game that we built from scratch in-house.
Dungeon Crawling, Crafting, and more was launched in May.
We have since launched a tremendous amount of new content:
--10+ Dungeons
--Two game modes
--World bosses, competitive dungeons
--Equipment and item crafting with over 150+ unique pieces
--ZUG marketplace
And there's tons more to come
--Renewed farming mechanics with professions
--Marketplace 2.0 (with all of the Loot enabled)
--Ultra challenge dungeons
--Collabs
--Tier 7 Gear
--Pet / Summon System
--Endless Enhancement
...
And still more:
--Multiplayer and passive PVP
--Roguelite Mode
--F2P model
--Amulets
--Mages release
--Realms of Valkala (resource/land based gameplay)
--Mobile
The bear market is exciting for us at @etherorcs . It's an opportunity to change things up and also continue doing what we do best -- delivering.
Start to finish I think we built the entire infrastructure for Dungeons in ~2.5 months. This is without any external funding.
Most importantly, I'm so happy about the community we have built.
There's nothing more fun than hunkering down to chat builds, strategies and more with the community. Having a real playable product is the key.
There is even zughead.com/ and zugtools.com
And because this space is so broken and focused on potential vs real products... I'll state what should be obvious: Yes this is actually live right now.
You can buy an Orc or Ally today. And immediately go on Dungeon Crawls, craft gear, and customize your builds.
So that's @EtherOrcs in a nut shell. Our goal is simple: to push the bounds of whats possible in Web3 and do it with a real product, not hype or promises.
