Reminder: The WEF is mentally unsound. They claimed that Bitcoin would consume ALL of the world's energy by 2020. Sauce: weforum.org/agenda/2017/12/bitcoin-consume-more-power-than-world-2020/ To be clear, energy consumption is not bad! But let's get a clear picture of things πŸ‘‡πŸ» 🧡1/5
As you can see above, Bitcoin mining used slightly less energy than domestic tumble dryers and only a fraction of the energy used by American Christmas lights.
Zooming out, we see that Bitcoin mining uses only 0.04% of all energy consumed globally. 4 bips! These are rookie numbers!
In the future, humanity will climb the Kardashev scale and officially become a Type 1 civilization by increasing its energy production 1000x. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bitcoin mining rise to be 20% of all energy usage.
While the WEF continues to prove itself to be severely deficient in the ways of neuronal processing, it IS TRUE that someday Bitcoin's energy use will by far surpass our comparatively adorable global energy use of the year 2020 as we continue to produce abundant energy for all.
