It turns out you can fit roughly ~40 Neuralink N1 devices on an average adult human skull. Here's the math ...
An N1 device is roughly the size of a quarter, that is 0.7 in^2. Considering the screws, lets say its area is ~1 in^2. To fix the device, a circular hole is drilled on the skull. So how many of those can you fit in? The average skull scalp area is ~80 in^2.
Let's say you need 2 in^2 per hole so your skull doesn't freaking collapse. With those numbers you can fit in roughly 40 N1s. At a 1000 Ch count that's only 40K channels. Afterthought: re-calculate this considering that the actual limit is the inner skull surface which is ...
