3 years ago, I was managing 800 employees at Amazon.
Fast forward - I'm working with dozens of 7-figure agency owners and running a 7 figure agency myself
Your roadmap to escape 9-5 and building a 6-figure income stream in the next 90 days πΊοΈ
To be able to escape your 9-5, you should get to at least $10k/month.
Here are 5 things that will help you get there π
1/. Niching & crafting irresistible offers
2/. Closing your first clients
3/. Onboarding & fulfilment
4/. 411 strategy
5/. Systems for monstrous scale
1/. Niching and crafting irresistible offers
You MUST target prospects who've got plenty of money and can pay for your services.
It's going to be 10x easier to get to $10k/mo by working with 2-3 e-commerce brands/ SaaS companies than selling to 1,000 broke college students.
Here are some lucrative niches:
> VC-funded start-ups
> 7 figure e-commerce brands
> Real estate
> Doctors
But choosing one of the above niches isn't enough.
Niche down even further
You can do this on two levels:
1) By niching down within a broad market
2) By niching down based on the nature of service
Here's an illustration to help you π
But to be able to sell to these hick-ticket clients, you must have a no-brainer offer - something people feel stupid saying "no" to.
The way to do this is to eliminate as much risk as possible.
Risk is going to be the #1 thing that you must battle against to get the sale.
This is where your offer comes in.
Let's say you've decided "Email marketing for Series-A funded EdTech start-ups" as your service.
Your main goal is to...
> Bring in more sales,
> Increase customer LTV,
> Increase AOV
Standing out:
Your prospect will most likely receive hundreds of emails from people pitching similar services.
This is where your positioning comes into play.
Eliminate risk by:
> Guaranteeing a % lift in revenue (or)
> Guaranteeing __ no. of new customers
If you don't accomplish these goals, they pay you nothing.
Or even better, you pay them $1,000.
Remember: For this to work, you have to be confident in your ability to fulfil.
Take what you've learned from deliverables, positioning, risk elimination and apply them to your offer.
Here's what it should look like:
The secret to scaling to $100k super fast is focusing on ONE killer offer.
Rinse and repeat.
2/. Closing your first clients
Getting your first client is usually the hardest part.
It's a catch-22 situation:
You don't have case studies to get clients and you don't have clients to get case studies.
Here's what you should be doing now...
> Leverage your network
Ask your friends and family if they know anyone who could benefit from your services.
Post on LinkedIn, Twitter, and any Slack communities that you're willing to work for free in exchange for a case study and a testimonial.
> Get on Upwork
There are hundreds of jobs being posted every single day on this platform looking for services that you offer.
I've compiled a monster thread on everything you need to make your first $100k on Upwork. Check it out π
Your emails are supposed to look something like this:
If you deliver awesome results for your first client and have a case study or a testimonial, there's no looking back.
3/. Onboarding & fulfilment
Now that you have closed your first client, it's time to give them a world-class customer experience.
If you screw this up, you won't have the case study/ testimonial to bring in more clients.
This is the single most important part of this thread.
Everything from your first kick-off call, weekly communication, to project management, and fulfilment should make you look like a pro.
The 48 hour giveaway:
Once the client makes the payment, give them insane amounts of value for the next 48 hours.
It's your chance to make them feel "This is the best investment I've ever made!!"
Here's what you'll be doing during this period:
> Introduce to potential partners
> Introduce to potential clients
> Introduce to service providers who can solve their other problems
> Access to discounted software
> Give away your exclusive content
> Introduce to podcast hosts
Customer success checklist:
β Priming your clients for success
β Bringing in sh*t tons of positive energy
β Sending gifts
β Offering free resources
β Show them the roadmap
β Delivering results
4/. 411 strategy
You need to have ONE north star metric (or primary goal).
Eg:
"Get to $75k MRR by December 2022"
"Add 4 new clients by end of Q3"
"Decrease churn by 25% by the end of the year"
And everything you do on a daily basis should lead you TOWARDS that goal.
Eg: "Get to $75k MRR by December 2022"
Some of the reasons why you might be stuck:
> Not setting referral partnerships
> Not creating content (for inbound leads)
> Not doing/ scaling cold outreach (via email, LinkedIn, Twitter)
Here are the activities you should focus on:
> Offer a % commission to partner agencies for referrals
> Create systems for consistently creating social media content
> Pitch an upsell (ONLY if you're crushing fulfilment)
> Ramp up outreach yourself/ hire a lead gen agency
This sounds straightforward but we do this with all of our clients.
It's easy to drift away and end up focusing on other insignificant metrics (or) activities.
This will help you stay on track and make sure you're heading in the right direction.
5/. Systems for monstrous scale
What got you from 0 to $10k won't get you from $10k to $100k.
Without having solid systems in place, you can't expect your new hires to execute their responsibilities well.
There's not a single agency which has scaled like crazy without systems.
You need extremely comprehensive SOPs for every single function of your agency.
From outreach & attending sales calls to client onboarding, and project management, every single step needs to be clearly explained.
We've helped 400+ agencies with their operations so that they can spend more time doing things they enjoy doing.
