yesterday i played poker as a published author

guy: "what made you want to write a book?"

me: "well, i've always wanted to write a book"

guy: "dwnqwqedu always? how old are you?"

me: "no really i always have since i was 9!"

guy: "how old are you?"

me: 23...

guy: 😂

me: 😂

later on i then told him to donate me some chips and he told me i was a published author so he figured ide be able to outsmart him for them

about 10 hands later my dad took me out.

it was a good night.

today anyone can be a "published author", the prestige is worn off, but its for the best: prestige does little good to grasp for, its vanity, not glory.

self publish your book and help your mom write hers too! (thats what im doing at least).

Author's Poker Night

There are many people on this earth who simply need more courage.

I really want to help those people.

Courage to take a leap into the void. Courage to try something bold, knowing it may very well not work out...

I've been the kid scared of his own shadow, now i want to help:

I am aiming to help people build up enough courage to live their life as they wish rather than to wonder "what if" and keep going with whatever default path their family/friends/environment throws at them.

Being a persistently scared & anxious human is! not! fun!

1st

Build up self esteem, and self confidence.

Someone's inner battles are the only thing that's stopped them thus far, so building up one's esteem is actually a critical mass.

you can accomplish this in many ways, here's a few:

- encourage people to test the limits of what they are capable of (do and overcome hard things)
- celebrate small wins and all wins with said people
- encourage people a lot: a small nudge makes all the difference

Ide also love to hear of more ways anyone has about helping others build their own self confidence up to realize some of their unrealized capabilities...

2nd way to gain more courage:

Create more than you consume: Educate yourself! Learn! Experiment!

-- oops, all of this comes back to way #1 honestly, which is to build your own self esteem

-- oops, all of this is really just saying "expand your imagination for what is possible"

Okay but how do we expand our imagination?

Now we're back on track, we must CREATE things!

Yes, consuming is also helpful for creating things, but do too much consumption and you'll fall into decay. You won't want to come out of your cave to play; to create something.

Curiosity is a big player in this game too, if you want to create things a great starting point is to ask questions and seek answers inline with what most interests you.

What most interests you, aside from money or fame, is almost always your curiosities.

As i said: I've been the small human with no courage, lined up to go wherever my environment took me.

In college I went through a major transformation and changed my body: I lost 60 lbs from 220 to 160... this was the moment I started to gain real momentum for my courage

I finally realized some portion of my capabilities beyond my old imagination.

This snowballed into me leaping out of college > trying my own thing > making it work (quite well!) within 2 years.

Then, gave me the courage to quit while i was ahead to start again from 0 ($$ wise).

Had I not done something beyond my own imagined capabilities (losing a lot of weight, being healthier) then I would have been scared shitless to take any risks.

Courage made all the difference to crafting the life i want to live, and its a daily undertaking to keep going

I'm also writing a book about encouragement, as I'm aiming to spread a message about how helpful it is to genuinely encourage others.

just 1% more encouragement even would make tsunami sized waves in the future of our earth: yes, really, and im likely under-imagining too.

Building Courage to Live Life on Your Terms

a universal truth that most people are afraid to confront is that everyone is just winging it.

really? winging it? yes.

Out of the billions of humans that exist, I don’t believe any one of them has it “all figured out”.

In addition to no one having it all figured out, I would go as far to say that every single human is in some grandeur capacity: just winging it.

Each and every one of us can make plans, we can craft wonderful visions, we can create things not yet imagined, and we can even out perform extraordinarily bad odds… but this pesky thing remains as a thorn in our side:

the unknown.

Alternatively the “unknown” is the idea that we have no way of knowing what we do not know, we can only really know the startling reality that we know very little in the grand scheme of things.

Einstein didn’t know what he would invent. You could reasonably say he was winging it when it came to the outcomes of his many experiments.

This is a great example in the context of creating things especially...

You will never know which failure adds the final piece to the puzzle, the one that connects your accumulated dots of knowledge all together.

So the only logical approach to do something great with your life is to get up and try: to go wing it.

I wasn’t best friends with Einstein but I can also tell you this about him: He lived his life and over time he built routines & rituals that suited him best.

If you ponder this for a moment you may also realize that this applies to just about anyone on planet earth.

We all know very well that each & every one of us is just winging it.

We just don’t like to think about it too much.

Your way of life, to try some stuff and then to try some more stuff as you go to see what works best for you...

Well, it’s the same approach for life as all of the people who came before you (Einstein included).

The same people who created the bedrock of civilization we stand on top of today… they too were winging it.

To wing it is to try without knowing.

Today there are infinitely more unknowns then there are knowns: so our only choice is to wing it.

This is both scary & exciting.

The scary part is that in accepting that everyone is just winging it you also accept that there is no human messiah that has all the answers.

This means your parents, your grandparents, the richest people on earth: they are all just people who have figured some stuff out & are basing their future decisions on what they have come to know through winging it.

They are still winging it as we speak, and just like you: they can’t stop even if they wanted to. It may be scary to think about how everyone is just going with the flow of what they have come to know, but it’s also equally exciting.

It’s exciting to know that everyone is just winging it. If everyone is winging it then it also means that you aren’t the only one who is absolutely lost at times.

It’s exciting to know that you aren’t the only lost buffoon around, that there are many others who also have no idea where life will lead them in the end.

Everyone has multiple points in their existence where they had no clue what to do, so what do you do and what’s the only option to do? To wing it! To try something, anything at all: or to do nothing as a form of doing something; even if just to see what happens from inaction.


No matter how the cards play out, bluff about it all you want, you were winging it, as are we all. – because you can’t possibly know, all of which you don’t know.

The Universal Truth of Winging It

A question I always ask myself when I encounter a wall in progress: "Is this a blockade I can jump over or do I need to go backwards to get around?"

Simply put: "Do I need to start over, backtrack, or quit in order to keep moving forwards?" …

When you are creating or doing worthwhile things a lot of the time you will find yourself at a peak of resistance, especially if something is rather difficult.

This peak constitutes a choice between two options. The first option being to keep going until you run until you get past this resistance, & ultimately find yourself at the same crossroads in due time.

The second option is to start over, to toss in the towel on something that isn’t working, so you can create something that does.

Starting over is a less common option, & a lot of the time you really do just need to keep going through resistance because progress, or growth is equal to struggle.

Resistance is almost always progress, but it may be a sign to start over too (could be progressive). Learning to know when to quit is a powerful thing, if you find your curiosity is fading or looking somewhere else that is usually the best indicator that it’s time to start over.

Start over on what? Well that depends on you. In many cases I have created things that were at first in line with my curiosity, sometimes I become more curious about something else in relation to what I’m doing than the thing I’m doing itself.

So I start over on my knowledge gaps, I dive into what I don’t know and am curious about, I let myself be guided by this sense.
This has worked for me quite well to know when I should try something new, but it’s also missing a logical side.

For example I created something that took me 3 years to create, then my curiosity switched gears, I found that my old creation was not helping me anymore but rather it was pulling me back.

So taking all of the many things I learned from my old creation I started with a blank canvas.

Much like when an artist learns to paint, they don’t reuse the same canvas every time to preserve their past work, they grab a new canvas & put the other one aside...

They use their past learnings to create new pieces of work & they continue in this process until their hands grow tired of doing so or until they croak.

Starting over is not as blank of a canvas as it seems.

If you are starting over on something then you have some backlog of imagination & information. You can use this to create something better than before. It may feel painful to “start from scratch” – no one wants to lose progress.

Even so no one is ever really starting over, they are just backtracking so they can push ahead further. Take this image for example:

A large part of starting over is accepting the fact that you can’t move forwards while looking back. This is to say: you are either going forwards, or you’re going backwards. If you are going backwards, make sure it’s so you can soon go forwards again.

TL;DR / LESSON / CONCLUSION

sometimes you really do just have to start over, or go backwards: so you can reach a further destination & make gradual progress (even when it feels like s**t)
