1/3 I have good reasons to suspect that Daszak paid for journalists to go on field trips in SEA in Q3 and Q4 2020. That was right when he was trying to figure out how he would need to shape the attempted Addendum to Latinne et al, to explain how poached Nov 2014 samples from Laos (when Metabiota was in charge) ended up in a PREDICT publication. @RetractionWatch
2/3 Trips likely paid out of an opaque foundation grant (no reporting required). For some reason, the Addendum did not work out too well. But the good thing is that a retraction/republication means that you don't have to publish the Addendum rounds of review. @Lake_Octopus gillesdemaneuf.medium.com/key-south-east-asia-grants-part-3-high-stakes-sampling-in-myanmar-laos-and-vietnam-8c471221126b
3/3 Maybe @sciencecohen could investigate this. That should not be too difficult. Oh, wait.. @DrJBhattacharya @R_H_Ebright gillesdemaneuf.medium.com/key-south-east-asia-grants-part-3-high-stakes-sampling-in-myanmar-laos-and-vietnam-8c471221126b
