Very timely piece by @mattwridley on the shenanigans of Sir Jeremy Farrar:
Farrar, Daszak, Drosten: three little soldiers determined to smother the infant truth to death, to protect their backsides and enable access to China for the WHO. spiked-online.com/2025/03/23/how-scientists-misled-the-world-about-covids-origins/
Farrar was very busy on Monday, 17 February 2020: 👉🏻 He was pushing for the publication of Proximal Origin as a preprint on virlogical.org that day, and 👉🏻 he was organising for the publication of Daszak statement that same day (got published the next day as the 3pm deadline was eventually missed).
He did this because the WHO urgently needed access. Keep in mind that the US ambassador to WHO, Andrew Bremberg, had just asked Tedros to secure access to Wuhan for the just arrived first WHO mission, and insisting on a timetable and some clear deliverables. Tedros was under pressure, stuck between the US and an uncooperative China. x.com/gdemaneuf/status/1903047584077451391
In the US, at that very same time, Tom Cotton was repeating the perfectly valid origin concerns that Baric had expressed 3 weeks earlier in a classified ODNI BSEG meeting (intelligence, biological experts group). He was being pilloried for that by the media and the Democrats, Something had to give. It was the inconvenient truth, courtesy of Farrar, in a classic example of kowtowing to the Chinese emperor. x.com/gdemaneuf/status/1891765900094865774
👉🏻 The moral of the story: 'Thus, we now know that the two documents that persuaded the entire political, media and scientific establishment that a lab leak was not just unlikely but also improbable, perhaps even impossible, were highly misleading propaganda efforts by people with conflicts of interest who knew them to be misleading.'
