Anybody who had some family there would know that Central Europe was a torn-away place before WW2, during it, and in its aftermath. Murderous nationalists, murderous soviets, all kinds of crazy people butchered each others and the Jews.
Many went along with it, some escaped, some opposed the madness, many died. The next 'C', Blaise Metreweli (currently 'Q' head there), is not her grandfather, whom she never met anyway. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14851451/grandfather-new-head-MI6-Nazi-spy-chief.html @ChiefMI6
Whatever her grandfather did is irrelevant for her job, as long as she is clear(ed) and does not try to hide skeletons in some mental family closet. The way MI6 has answered the facts is encouraging. bbc.com/news/articles/c0l406gpydgo
I discussed something similar with Peter Daszak, whose father was a 'SS Galicia' member, with actually an even more complex battle of narratives behind on that SS division. Except that in his case, Peter never had the courage to acknowledge it or even discuss it. And it may well have shaped his conviction that he could BS anybody. medium.com/@gillesdemaneuf/on-bohdan-daszaks-time-in-the-waffen-ss-galicia-f8af8a4c16be
