Among the 14 disease endpoints meta-analyzed in GBMI, the largest difference in SNP heritability between ancestries was observed for gout. This is due to both differences in allele frequencies and effect size between ancestries. twitter.com/yingWANGyw1/status/1612143974927720448?s=20&t=YwpRYM5JY-A6OTTy9U4hyA
For e.g. the SNP-h2 of gout is ~5% in EUR but ~9% in EAS. This difference is probably driven mainly by a single variant within ABCG2 (urate transporter), one of the two top genetic determinants of serum urate levels elifesciences.org/articles/58615
The ABCG2 variant is present in ~25% of East Asians explaining 8.3% of the phenotypic variance vs 7.3% of the Europeans explaining only 3% of the phenotypic variance in Gout.
