Day 1130.
Dimko - “The Most Influential Voice Abroad” award.
Got this award from @doucommunity earlier this month in Kyiv. Have a lot of thoughts regarding the current warfare and this award.
I think my ~6 months in the Army changed me already and will change more.
🧵
I was given this award by Developers of Ukraine community that recognized that I helped many foreigners understand Ukraine and our Fight for Freedom, through my personal lens as former software guy.
I believe this is crucial for Ukraine - to have ordinary people on our side.
In my speech, I urged fellow Ukrainian software people to join the specialized parts of the Defense Forces - in MoD, in ЦІРОТ, ЦМТР, special parts of combat units, and of course @usf_army where I serve.
We need that tech expertise in Defense to survive.
I personally see how technology changed the battlefield forever. It’s a whole new game of fighter drones with machine guns taking down other drones or antennas.
We need our brightest minds there. I am here, and trying my best.
I also realized how challenging is Ukraine’s situation now and our own lives.
We have gotten so used to it, but we are living and fighting in exceptionally unique circumstances. Need to zoom out a bit for us to realize this.
This is very special and historical. We make history
Tough challenges and tough choices.
But this forges the steel of our characters. I often question what I do. I contemplate about my sometimes irrational choices. This is how true confidence is built - by arguing with yourself.
I love the community I have found online and offline. Great people I am proud to share those historical times with. I read all your comments and letters, they matter a lot to me in the times of war. Sometimes read them to my brothers-in-arms.
Thank you for being with me on this journey and supporting Ukraine, and Ukrainian voices like myself, even though I am too humble to start treating myself as “the most influential voice” 🤣🤣🤣
Please stay tuned. I will be trying to find time in my military service to talk to you some day. Meanwhile I suggest following on YouTube too - youtube.com/@liberukraine?sub_confirmation=1
