Lunatics are grieving & for good reason.
We've lost our money, our community & our faith in the decentralized future envisioned by @stablekwon.
Below are the 5 Stages of Grief (DABDA) according to a Lunatic.
Let's chart a course to heal 🙏 👇
2/ Preface: I am not a licensed psychologist, nor do I seek to provide any clinical advice.
I am simply a lunatic searching for a way to move past the emotional & financial traumas of this tumultuous week.
Writing my thoughts here was a bit cathartic. I hope it helps you too.
3/ “We run after values that, at death, become zero. At the end of your life, nobody asks you how many degrees you have, or how many mansions you built, or how many Rolls Royces you could afford. That’s what dying patients teach you.”
Dr. Elizabeth Kübler-Ross
4/ The 5 stages of grief, DABDA, were 1st introduced by Swiss Psychiatrist Elizabeth Kübler-Ross in her 1969 book "On Death & Dying."
The 5 stages:
Denial
Anger
Bargaining
Depression
Acceptance
6/ While DABDA was initially meant to describe the grief process for terminally-ill patients & their loved ones, the grief stages have since been expanded to include other personal losses or significant life-changes. For example: major rejection, breakups, loss of job/income.
7/ “Any natural, normal human being, when faced with any kind of loss, will go from shock all the way through acceptance.”
Dr. Elizabeth Kübler-Ross
8/ DENIAL - Stage 1
The first step. Shock. There must be a mistake. Cling to false hope. Keep trying! Isolate away from anyone that might understand what's actually going on.
9/ MY DENIAL
The LUNA death spiral began & I couldn't accept what was so plain in front of me. This was no normal dip.. my bffs got liquidated one after the next, but I BELIEVED in the narrative so strongly & didn't sell. I bought more!
"It's just FUD!" "Buy the Dippp"
10/ ANGER - Stage 2
Once the realization of what's actually happening occurs. Being in denial is no longer possible. Mad at the world. Who to blame? You might want to scream or throw something.
11/ MY ANGER
Once LUNA hit $10, I had no choice but to admit defeat. I capitulated.
More importantly - Who could I blame? Who shilled me this shitcoin? Was it all @stablekwon's fault? The greedy hedgies? I'm seeing red. I lash out at loved ones. I hate everything about crypto.
12/ BARGAINING - Stage 3
At this stage, you might feel a sense of hope that your suffering can be avoided "if." You might pray to a higher power. You'll do anything to stop the grief.
13/ MY BARGAINING
"Please let the community vote on a proposal to refund my UST via airdrops so I can be made whole!"
"I promise if LUNA recovers I'll never use leverage again!"
"No more alts! BTC only!!"
"I swear I will NEVER put all my eggs in one basket again after this!"
14/ DEPRESSION - Stage 4
Reliving the past over & over again. Melancholy. Despair. Isolation from loved ones. You refuse to socialize. Why should I bother?
15/ MY DEPRESSION
I've barely left my house for a week. I've been avoiding phone calls with my mom. I'm too ashamed. I've tried to force myself to get out, but I have no desire to be around "happy people." I'm paralyzed. I feel like a failure. Where do I go from here?
16/ ACCEPTANCE - Stage 5
The progress of moving on begins at this stage. You accept the reality of the loss. Emotions begin to stabilize. You pick up the pieces. You might feel a sense of calm.
17/ MY ACCEPTANCE
I would be lying if I told you I was at this stage. I'm not. What I hope it looks like:
-Getting out of the house.
-Kicking butt at work to increase my income.
-Finding new crypto projects to invest in.
-Finding new hobbies that aren't related to crypto.
18/ This has been a truly difficult week. I've heard some very sad stories... Many of us are still hurting.
The lunatic community has provided me great comfort. I am happy to be an ear for you. You are not alone.
Please know there is no shame in seeking professional help.
19/ What's helped me so far:
-Journaling my thoughts throughout this experience.
-Talking to other lunatics who understand what I'm going through. Not even about crypto, but just to chat.
-Being grateful for my family & my health - the truly important things in life.
20/ What stage are you in? Do these 5 stages resonate with you? What have you done to cope with the events of the week?
Feel free to share to the level you are comfortable with 🙏
