Te voy a compartir un hilo interesante de Zain Kahn (@heykahn) adaptado al español, acerca de la clase más popular de Yale en sus 320 años de historia:

1. Cerca del 50% de la felicidad está determinada por la genética.
10% lo determinan las circunstancias.
40% lo determinan los pensamientos, acciones y actitud.
Sobrevaloramos el papel de ese 10% - muy por encima de aquel 40% nuestro - a la hora de aumentar nuestra felicidad.
2. Significa que cuando buscamos fuentes de felicidad, nos centramos erróneamente en nuestras circunstancias:
- El dinero
- Un trabajo de lujo
- Un cuerpo en forma
- Coches
- Una pareja atractiva
Resulta que estas cosas no mejoran la felicidad tanto como creemos.
¿Por qué?
3. Adaptación hedónica.
El aumento de la felicidad derivado de la mejora de nuestras circunstancias es efímero.
Queremos algo (como dinero), lo conseguimos y somos felices durante un tiempo (¡qué bien!).
Luego volvemos a ser los de antes y queremos más (el nuevo iPhone?).
4. ¿Qué es lo que nos hace felices?
La profesora de Yale estudió a personas realmente felices para ver qué funciona, y encontró ciertos patrones en sus hábitos:
1. Pasar tiempo con amigos y familia.
2. Practicar la gratitud.
3. Practicar el optimismo.
4. Actividad física.
5. ¿Pero qué pasa con el dinero?
El dinero te hace feliz, no hay duda, pero sólo hasta cierto punto.
Según estudios, al alcanzar USD $75.000 en ingresos, cualquier aumento posterior afecta levemente a la felicidad.
Pero hay otra fuente infravalorada de riqueza y felicidad:
6. El dinero es un recurso renovable, el tiempo no.
Al tener suficiente dinero para cubrir nuestras necesidades, más control sobre nuestro tiempo conduce significativamente a más felicidad.
De hecho, según un estudio, si compras más tiempo con tu dinero, eres mucho más feliz.
7. Saber no es suficiente.
Que hayas hecho un curso sobre la felicidad -o leído un hilo- no significa que estés preparado para ser feliz.
La felicidad es producto de hábitos diarios que alimentan la alegría durante años.
Así que levántate y empieza a crear estos hábitos.
