Not that you need to read this, however, if you do, it'll give you a little glimpse into how my brains works... and how I'm trying to outsource larger and larger parts of it to AI....
Here's my deep dive into @EndelSound - who's claims I both loved and was very sceptic of š
First I'll say this, I'm a flow state chaser, I know incredibly well how fun it is, how fulfilling, how much great work I can do, how typing suddenly "clicks" and I reach 120WMP and just go... Flow state is the shit, and always was, so I've been chasing it, with apps, playlists..
I've been a long time user of brain.fm to to a bug they had, where they didn't remove my premium access after apple lapsed my payment, but this really got me in there, with the state of mind "I have premium access for free, might as well use it" and it was š„
Then somehow I tried Endel and it was fun, but I didn't really persist, and reverted back to the usual Spotify playlists (coffehouse beats) and others that I know work... semi-reliably.
But then a few nights ago, I couldn't sleep. Tossing and turning in bed at 2am, head buzzing
with ideas, about AI, about all I learned on twitter and threads and Airchat, and plans and kid stuff just... everything. I think I even vaped something... energetic and stimulating.
I remembered @EndelSound , put my Airpods and just pressed "sleep"
It was dope, I didn't last the whole night, woke up in the middle and put the airpods in case, but I definitely went to sleep quick! It was really great, and they flashed a some "science backed" thingie, which I didn't even consider real, I said, prob. just some marketing speak
Since my birthday is coming up, I decided to just get the trial with the annual plan, as a preset to myself, given that I love flow state but never really invested in it beyond just setting up Spotify playlists that put me in "the zone"
I particularly loved Endels signal based AI
They claim to have models, that generate AI based soundscapes, and they take into account the weather around you, motion data, heart rates, dusk/dawn and other personalization signals.
I loved it so much that I decided to share it w/ my Mom and her Husband (they are visiting)
While onboarding them to the trial, I figured I might as well read and learn myself, cause now that I'm recommending something to someone else, especially family, the bar is higher than for my own self. So I decided to double down on the "science" that I back then put in quotes
Endel has a science page on their website, and it's so nicely designed, that I figured it's SEO juice + marketing, but no, they actually link to bioarxiv for a few studies, and links to SleepScoreLabs
I copy pasted this whole website contents, and some of the links, and got my new friend Claude v2, from claude.ai to help me see if there's evidence to their claims in the linked studies and experts.
I just asked Claude to see if there's anything that's not backed
It concluded with "However, more peer-reviewed studies specifically on their product would be needed to substantiate their claims and optimize their techniques further" so I went, downloaded both bioarxiv PDFs they linked to, and just.. uploaded them and asked "is this enough?"
Claude has a LOT of context to use & is really a great research partner, I don't usually dive into the science, especially in these unknown to me areas, but this was a no brainer, was so simple, I was so unshackled by the context window, and uploading actual files made it easy
And now I can honestly say I'm satisfied with the result, have "done my research" (& not by googling forums and opinions), and have a better grasp on how they can help me achieve flow state
As an additional point of claim verification, as I sat down to write this thread, I hit the new "deeper focus" soundscape in Endel.
I've been typing straight since I started, I don't think thread will need a full review before I publish, I feel š„ focused, typing feels fast, words come easy and ... things just flow...
Now that I'm thinking about it, instead of ending the thread, I've noticed another interesting link, they have a link to their patent. Which, I've never read a patent paper before, let's take a closer look at it with our new AI friend. In this case it was 78K of new info!
BTW as this thread is partly related to @AnthropicAI Claude, I really love the "paste as file" feature, that decides that when you have a LOT of text, it uploads it as a file, really helps to "add" prompt on top of a lot of text and helps readability. š«” whoever came up w/ it
I love this summary, I would have died at the wall of text on the actual patent website, but this, this is readable and I can dive in, ask questions, and Claude already has the scientific background (and sources, I uploaded the two PDFs and the scientific journal from before)
It's a superpower to have a deeper conversation with an expert that holds 1 scientific paper (12KB) 2 bioarxiv pdfs (~5MB) and patent entry (78KB) of data, in addition to the "claims" on the website, and I can ask deeper questions, like how they use AI.
The thing is, the above super-powers, while unimaginable just a few years ago, will get another 10x productivity, once Claude and GPT will incorporate vision (like Bing just gave us and google is failing at)

Patent has a lot of drawings, weirdly even for application UI, algorithms and Claude could have been much better and understanding the patent had it been able to "see". The website uses a mix of text and illustrations that give us humans a lot of additional context!
- I get hyped quickly, but I try to cultivate a healthy amount of skepticism of claims, especially inside marketing landing pages so I
- Used AI to put me in enough of a deep focus to do a research on this, document and write a twitter thread (in one sitting, no interruptions)
I used this opportunity to also explore use-cases for Claude V2, which I highly hyped already, and wanted more evidence that my hype was appropriate (it 100% is at this point)
So used another AI friend, to help me research the science (that's way above my head and capabilities)
And while I'm writing this thread, I'm using another AI friend to make sure some of my above tweets fit into a single tweet (@typefully AI is really dope)
So there you have it, this is a little glimpse into my š§ , now more than ever w/ AI, and how I'm trying to learn from it, and document so others can also learn.
Like it or not, human / machine interaction is going to stay with all of us till the rest of our lives...
Might as well get started enjoying and exploring it now.
And if you don't know where to start from, our #thursdAI twitter spaces is a great way for beginners. Follow the hashtag, I host it every well... thursdAI haha. We cover the major trends, have a panel of experts & it's fun
And you'd like Endel for two weeks trial (instead of the one in the app) you can use this, I don't think I benefit from this link in anyway but if I do, I'll tell you
share.endel.io/14dayspromo
And now I'll switch to relax mode, and conclude this tread with a message:
Stay flexible, it's not a bad idea to flow with the changes and start enjoying them instead of resisting, hoping for a slow down, we're not going to get a slowdown, it's so over, we're so back š«”
If you enjoyed this, thank you for giving my content your attention š«¶ I appreciate it.
If you'd like to continue learning together, we gather every #thursdAI on twitter spaces, and if you don't have that kind of time, I send out summaries via t.co/DpKhOspHpl
