do you think it's okay (or legal) if I take essays written by interesting people, run them through a good text-to-speech engine and publish them as a podcast?
it'd be free, and they would be obviously credited.
- Searched for TTS tools. Ended up with Google TTS Wavenet voices
- Took Paul Graham's "Do things that don't scale"
- Cleaned it up a bit and generated an MP3
- Recorded an intro putting the iPhone inside the closet.
- Edited with Audacity
- Uploaded everything to Anchor FM
- ✅
Published, and now live!
This was a super fun 2-hour prod build & ofc this is all very experimental and subject to change.
I want this podcast to be an audio archive of very good essays, and I might start with focusing on Paul Graham.
Hope you enjoy!
