/ INTRODUCTION TO $SAFE:

$SAFE is the native token of the "Safe Yields" protocol and is the world's first "refraction token," meaning it is mathematically designed to sustain positive price action, no matter the market conditions.

Wondering how? Let's explore how $SAFE does this in plain English 👇

/ $SAFE

$SAFE is basically designed as a collateral-backed token that can accrue value over time as more people buy or sell it.

Unlike other tokens, $SAFE can only be bought from the $SAFE/$USDC vault.

/ $SAFE/$USDC VAULT

- Buyers can mint $SAFE only from this vault, by depositing $USDC into it.
- Sellers can sell their $SAFE to this vault, and they'll receive the price in $USDC. The vault burns the $SAFE bought.
- The vault holds 0 $SAFE, it only holds $USDC.

In a simpler form,
If someone buys $SAFE > They deposit $USDC into the vault > The vault mints $SAFE and sends it to their wallet.

If someone sells $SAFE > They deposit the $SAFE into the vault > The vault burns it > Then, the vault releases $USDC to their wallet.

/ PRICE OF $SAFE

As stated above, $SAFE is designed as a stablecoin backed by $USDC.

So, the Price of $SAFE = Amount of $USDC in the vault/No. of $SAFE in circulation

For eg,
If the amount of USDC in the vault = $100
& the number of SAFE in circulation = 10

Then the price of $SAFE = 100/10 = $10

/ BUY/SELL TAX

One of the main catalysts of $SAFE's value accrual is the 'Buy & Sell tax' - 0.25% per buy or sell.

Because $SAFE can't be accessed through any external liquidity pools or CEXs, all orders go through the vault and every order gets taxed,

Tax distribution:

~ 50% of the tax amount flows back to the SAFE/USDC vault.
~ 30% flows to the project treasury.
~ And 20% goes to the management.

This is how the tax system helps in $SAFE's value accrual:

As more trades happen > The amount of tax collected increases > The amount of USDC in the vault increases > Which will drive $SAFE's value up.

/ PROTOCOL REVENUE PROFITS

5% of all the profits that the Safeyield protocol makes go to the vault - which will again increase the value of $SAFE as the collateral ($USDC) grows.

As safeyields' suite of products generates more revenue, the $SAFE token accrues more value.

Combining all the above factors (VAULT + TAX + PROTOCOL REVENUE) results in an appreciation of $SAFE's value, no matter the market conditions.

Let's understand how this works in action with a real-world example:

Assume there is 100 $USDC in the vault and 100 $SAFE in circulation.

So, the initial price/value of $SAFE will be $1.

Now let's understand how both buying and selling can build positive price momentum for $SAFE.

1. Buying:
Assume someone bought 50 $SAFE by depositing 50 $USDC in the vault.

The new value of $SAFE after this trade will be as below:

This change in price, even though it seems too low to be profitable, may work wonders with large volumes.

2. Selling:

Now assume someone sold 50 $SAFE and claimed 50.02 $USDC from the vault (As new price = $1.000416)

After the trade the new value of $SAFE will be as below:

New price ($1.00105) > Last price ($1.000416)
This implies the value of $SAFE increased after the sell order.

Again, this can work wonders with large volumes.

From the above example, we can see how $SAFE's value can go up irrespective of the market condition as long as there is trade volume.

+ The above example doesn't consider the value appreciation from the protocol revenue profits, which may again positively influence the value

/ INTRODUCTION TO SAFE NFTs

SAFE NFTs are limited edition utility NFTs that will be launched on *March 3rd* by Safeyields.

Holders of the SAFE NFT will be rewarded with $SAFE tokens through a revenue-sharing model where rewards are exclusively paid out from protocol profits.

There are mainly 4 tiers of SAFE NFTs constituting a total of 5000 NFTs - The revenue sharing with NFT holders varies with each tier.

/ WHAT TO NOTE?

~ Holders of SAFE NFTs will receive a part of all profits that Safeyields make from defi yields, mining, etc + 50% of all profits from their trading bot services and yield aggregator.

~ Holders will also receive a part of the profit generated from other products, services, and trading under the protocol.

~ 70% of the profit generated from the NFT sale will be used to bootstrap treasury and the treasury fund will be used to generate yield.

~ Rewards will be paid out in $SAFE; the reward intervals may vary with market conditions but will never cross more than 1 month.

~ The NFTs will be launched on March 3rd, 2023.

~ For the first 4 weeks after the launch, there will be a discount sale, starting from a 40% discount on week 1 and goes as below:

The launch of NFTs will be followed by the launch of $SAFE token (Exact date TBA)

/ SUMMARY:

Safeyields is a DeFi protocol that works on a bunch of DeFi products, including a yield aggregator and trade bot services.

$SAFE is the native token of the Safeyields protocol and is mathematically designed to never depreciate in price.

$SAFE is collateralized by $USDC. $SAFE is expected to accrue value from its trade volume and the profits generated by the Safeyields protocol.

Crypto events in december.

Recently @cz_binance tweeted that every crypto exchange should do a "Merkle-tree Proof-of-Reserves"

But what exactly is Merkle-Tree POR?  🧵🪡

This thread is divided into 3 parts:

1) Merkle-Tree
2) Proof-of-Reserves
3) The intersection of Merkle-Tree and PoR.

Let's go!

1) Merkle-Tree

To understand MT, I highly recommend you watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB41w3JcR7U

This guy explains Merkle-Tree in just 2 mins! Awesome video.

But, if you still want to stick with the thread, I've tried my best to cover Merkle-Tree in the following 3-4 tweets:

In a b/c,
There are transactions, and each txn has a unique hash.

100s or 1000s of txns group together to form a block and each block has a unique hash too, which is derived from the hashes of txns it contains.

Here, to derive the hash of a block, MT is used.

For eg,
Block A contains 10 txns (T1, T2...T10) with 10 hashes (H1, H2...H10)

So what an MT does is:
Combine T1's and T2's hashes to create a new hash. (Hash - H1H2)
Then, combine T3's & T4's hash to create a new hash (Hash - H3H4)
...
all the way up to T10.

Now, we have 5 hashes (H1H2, H3H4, H5H6, H7H8, & H9H10) that we obtained by combining 10 hashes.

Similarly, we'll combine these new hashes... until we get one hash. This 1 hash obtained at last is known as 'Merkle Root'.

That's how a Merkle-Tree works.

2) Proof-of-Reserves

PoR is a third-party audit performed typically by an auditing firm to ensure that a custodian holds the assets it claims on behalf of its clients.

Pretty simple concept.

3) The intersection of Merkle-Tree and PoR.

The PoR auditor takes a snapshot of all balances held by users/clients and creates a Merkle-Tree with it.

The auditor then collects the respective exchange's digital signature(s).

The signature is used by the PoR auditor to verify the ownership of on-chain wallets.

In other words, an exchange needs to provide their wallets' signatures to the PoR auditor to prove their ownership of wallets/on-chain addresses.

As the last step,

The auditor then calculates the assets in the exchange's on-chain addresses and matches it with the users'/clients' balances to ensure that the exchange has equal or more assets than the clients' balances combined.

And that's what a "Merkle-Tree Proof-of-Reserves" is.

Pretty simple, but powerful, as it enables more transparency to the end users.
