Shanks are caused by
1. the hands being closer to the ball in 3D space at impact (than they were at address)
this can be hands moving out/down (pic 1), or a reduction of shaft lean (from yellow to red in pic 2)
They can also be caused by
2. a change of shaft pitch at impact (towards red in the second pic)
Toe shots are caused by the opposite.
Things that did NOT cause your shank/toe shot are
1. your path
2. your face angle
Everyone's swing has
🟢elements which add more toe-bias
🟠elements which add more heel-bias
It's how this things balance that matter. Too many heel biased elements and not enough toe elements, and shanks occur.
In order to fix shanks/toe shots, you should train it from 3 perspectives.
🔵reduce body movements that relate to the issue
🔵train hands to enter in a different location
🔵train the brain to swing the club over a diff spot in space
doing just one of the above should fix it
